Can I have an IUD inserted if I have uterine prolapse?

The IUD is a minor surgery that many women go to the hospital for. It can play a good contraceptive role, but it should be noted that if you want to use the IUD, there are certain requirements for the health of the female body. If you have some gynecological diseases, it is not suitable for the IUD. And patients with uterine prolapse must be very confused about whether they can use the IUD!

The main symptoms of uterine prolapse are damage and weakness of the supporting tissue of the uterus, causing the uterus to descend along the vagina, the external cervical opening to drop below the level of the ischial spine, or even the uterus to completely protrude out of the vaginal opening. Uterine prolapse can be divided into mild, moderate, and severe depending on the degree. Mild: Most patients do not feel any discomfort, some may feel back pain and falling after standing for a long time or heavy physical labor; Moderate: The cervix and part of the uterine body protrude from the vaginal opening; Severe: The patient will feel a feeling of falling in the lower abdomen, vagina, and perineum, accompanied by back pain, and feel that something has protruded from the vagina, which is more obvious after walking or working, and can be recovered after bed rest.

Patients with uterine prolapse cannot have an IUD inserted. Women with gynecological diseases such as acute pelvic inflammatory disease, acute vaginitis, severe cervical erosion, menorrhagia or irregular bleeding, uterine fibroids, and narrow cervix should not have an IUD inserted. IUD insertion will not cause uterine prolapse. Uterine prolapse is caused by the relaxation of the ligaments that maintain the position of the uterus. These ligaments are located in the pelvic cavity. According to your symptoms, they are all caused by uterine prolapse. Mild prolapse can be treated without surgery, but with uterine prolapse. Patients with uterine prolapse are advised not to have an IUD inserted, as it will make the condition more serious and have an impact on the body.

Women who need to have an IUD inserted should avoid the menstrual period before doing so. It is best to wait a week after the menstrual period is over. After having the IUD inserted, they should rest for a while and avoid doing heavy physical work or having sexual intercourse, otherwise the IUD will be displaced, affecting the effectiveness of contraception and failing to achieve the desired effect.
