Is it painful to do cervical polyp surgery?

Some women suffer from cervical polyps due to carelessness in life. In clinical treatment, cervical polyps are treated with surgery. Before the cervical polyp surgery is performed, many women are afraid that the cervical polyp surgery will cause pain. Women are weak and cannot stand the pain. So on the one hand, they want to cure the cervical polyp, but on the other hand, they are worried about the pain during the surgery. So let's take a look at whether the cervical polyp surgery is painful or not.

The operation is not painful because small and shallow cervical polyps can be removed directly without anesthesia, but the cervix itself has no nerves and no pain. If the polyp is large and deep, the doctor will give you anesthesia, so you don’t need to worry about whether it hurts.

Western medicine mainly treats cervical polyps by surgical removal. However, if accompanied by inflammation, the infection must be controlled first; if bleeding occurs, stopping the bleeding is the main focus. Surgery should be performed after the inflammation is controlled. Although polyps rarely become cancerous, the cancer rate is also between 0.2% and 0.4%. For those over 45 years old, especially those with cervical polyps before and after menopause, the polyps should be sent for pathological examination after surgical resection. If there are signs of malignancy, treatment measures should be taken as soon as possible. In addition, the disease is prone to recurrence, and regular follow-up examinations should be performed after surgery, once every three months.

The first thing women need to pay attention to after undergoing cervical polyp surgery is to maintain genital hygiene to avoid infection. They are not allowed to have sexual intercourse within one month after the operation so that the new cells can cover the cervix normally. After the operation, the patient will need to take medication for a period of time, especially drugs with anti-infection effects. In addition, patients also need to pay attention to their diet and choose foods that are easily digestible and nutritious. Some hot foods such as longan and red dates should not be eaten too much.

Generally, anesthesia is required when surgical methods are used to treat diseases, so there is generally no pain. Therefore, there is no need to worry about this. Cervical polyps must be removed surgically in a timely manner. If the operation is delayed, the disease will cause sequelae, especially cervical cancer, which is also a complication caused by cervical polyps. It is enough to witness the harm of cervical polyps, so timely treatment is best.
