What is estradiol during pregnancy

Many people know nothing about estradiol during pregnancy. In fact, the estradiol index during pregnancy is very important. It determines whether the baby is healthy and what to pay attention to during pregnancy. Therefore, you must know in time how much estradiol you have during pregnancy. What exactly is estradiol during pregnancy? Let's take a look at it together. I hope everyone can understand it through the editor's introduction.

Estradiol is a natural estrogen secreted mainly by mature ovarian follicles in the body. It can promote and regulate the normal development of female sexual organs and secondary sexual characteristics.

Its main pharmacological effects are: ① promoting endometrial hyperplasia;

② Enhance the contraction of uterine smooth muscle;

③ It promotes the development and proliferation of mammary ducts, but a larger dose can inhibit the release of prolactin from the anterior pituitary gland, thereby reducing milk secretion;

④Anti-androgen effect;

⑤ Lower blood cholesterol and increase calcium deposition in bones. This product can be absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and skin, but it is easily destroyed when taken orally, so it is mainly used for intramuscular injection and external application.

When applied topically, estradiol penetrates the skin directly into the blood circulation, avoiding first-pass metabolism in the liver and not damaging liver function.

This product is metabolized into weaker active estrone and estriol in the body, and is inactivated after combining with glucuronic acid and sulfuric acid and excreted in the urine.

It is clinically used for various symptoms caused by ovarian insufficiency or ovarian hormone deficiency, mainly functional uterine bleeding, primary amenorrhea, menopausal syndrome and prostate cancer.

The normal value of E2 (estradiol) at 7 weeks of pregnancy is 25-309. Generally speaking, the concentration of blood estradiol is 48-521 pmol/L in the preovulatory period, 70-1835 pmol/L in the ovulatory period, and 272-793 pmol/L in the postovulatory period. Low values are seen in ovarian dysfunction, premature ovarian failure, and Sheehan's syndrome.

Judge whether you are normal or abnormal based on the normal values. If the estradiol level is low during pregnancy, it needs treatment. If it is high, it also needs treatment. The level of estradiol will also affect a person's fertility, so you must pay attention to it and choose the appropriate method for symptomatic treatment based on your results.
