What should I do if I feel abdominal discomfort during menstruation?

How many women have suffered from dysmenorrhea? Once menstruation comes, women's life and work conditions will become particularly bad. So why does dysmenorrhea cause so many women? What other methods can we women use to stay away from the pain caused by dysmenorrhea? Let me share with you some things to do during dysmenorrhea.

Abdominal pain during menstruation is what we clinically call dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea is the most common clinical symptom. Abdominal pain during menstruation can be divided into primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea is more common for unmarried women or non-pregnant women. However, the existence of secondary dysmenorrhea caused by disease cannot be ruled out.

Dysmenorrhea usually begins with the onset of menstruation or a few hours before vaginal bleeding and is often spasmodic and cramping. After the onset of severe abdominal pain, it turns into moderate paroxysmal pain, which lasts about 12 to 24 hours. The symptoms gradually disappear after the menstrual blood flows smoothly, and sometimes the patient needs to stay in bed for 2 to 3 days. The pain is mostly in the lower abdomen. About 50% of patients have gastrointestinal and cardiovascular symptoms.

So what are the causes of dysmenorrhea?

① Periodic abdominal pain during adolescence, but without menstruation, sometimes accompanied by symptoms of difficulty urinating, should increase vigilance and rule out diseases such as hymen occlusion.

② If you have severe dysmenorrhea after puberty, do not take painkillers or Chinese medicine on your own. You must undergo a gynecological examination to rule out lesions such as vaginal septum, rudimentary uterine horn, and didelphys.

③Primary amenorrhea, that is, young women still have no menstruation after the age of 18, but also no dysmenorrhea, or no menstruation 2 years after the development of secondary sexual characteristics. Congenital absence of vagina, uterus or uterine hypoplasia must be ruled out.

Therefore, although female dysmenorrhea seems to be a common and minor matter to ordinary people, the harm it brings to us cannot be underestimated. Therefore, we should take good care of our bodies on a daily basis. If you suffer from severe dysmenorrhea on a daily basis, it is safer to remember to go to the hospital for a check-up.
