Why does the vaginal opening itch after sex?

The female vaginal opening is easily infected by bacteria. Underwear, towels, toilet seats, sanitary napkins, etc., and even sexual intercourse may cause discomfort in the vagina. Some women report that they feel itching in their genitals after sexual intercourse, which is somewhat similar to the symptoms of some gynecological diseases. So what are the reasons for perineum itching after sexual intercourse? Let’s analyze the reasons below.

One is an allergy to condoms (or external contraceptives): condoms are a chemical product, and a small number of people have an allergic reaction to them. Women experience itching in the vulva, congestion and erosion of the vaginal opening and vaginal walls, and a significant increase in secretions from the vulva and vagina. Men experience unbearable itching on the glans penis, leading to local tingling, and even congestion, edema and erosion of the glans penis.

The second is semen allergy: male semen itself is an allergic substance. If the wife has an overly sensitive constitution, an allergic reaction is likely to occur. The main symptoms are itching of the vulva, sometimes with mild congestion and edema.

The third is leucorrhea allergy: leucorrhea is composed of cervical fluid mixed with some endometrial and fallopian tube exfoliated cells and vaginal secretions. During sexual intercourse, cervical fluid and vaginal secretions increase, and the amount of leucorrhea also increases. There are many antigenic substances in leucorrhea that can become allergens. If the husband has an allergic constitution, it will also cause an allergic reaction.

Fourth, secretions contaminate the vulva and cause sexual stimulation: During sexual intercourse, secretions from the sexual organs (leucorrhea, semen, menstrual blood, smegma, etc.) are contaminated on the vulva, then dry and adhere to the local skin and mucous membranes, causing itching and discomfort.

Fifth, vaginal infection: vaginitis caused by Trichomonas or fungi can also irritate the vulva and cause itching.

To sum up, a variety of reasons may cause vaginal itching, so before and after sexual intercourse, both partners should pay attention to personal hygiene, because dirt and even diseases can be transmitted during sexual intercourse. Therefore, it is particularly important for both partners to maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness and pay attention to the hygiene of their private parts.
