What is the main thing in the vagina?

Every healthy woman will have liquid discharged from her vagina. Many young women don’t know what the stuff in their vagina is at first. Later they learned from their gynecologist that it is leucorrhea. Now they want to know the relevant common sense about leucorrhea. In the following article, gynecologists will give you the most in-depth explanation. I hope that through the following introduction, female friends can have a general understanding.

Leucorrhea is fluid discharged from the vagina, and all healthy women have leucorrhea. Leucorrhea originates from the cervix and vagina, and contains mucus secreted by the cervix, exudate from the vaginal mucosa, epidermal cells shed from the uterus and vagina, as well as a small amount of white blood cells and non-pathogenic vaginal secretions.

Bacillus, etc. It keeps the vagina at a certain humidity, which is very helpful in preventing the invasion of bacteria.

Healthy girls have almost no vaginal discharge before puberty. During puberty, the ovaries develop and begin to secrete estrogen, resulting in leucorrhea. The appearance of leucorrhea indicates that menstruation will occur in 2-3 years. If there is no leucorrhea during puberty, this is an abnormal phenomenon and you should be alert to hymen occlusion or ovarian hypoplasia. See a doctor.

Normal leucorrhea should be white, sometimes transparent, sometimes sticky, and have no odor. During adolescence, leucorrhea is affected by estrogen and undergoes cyclical changes, sometimes increasing and sometimes decreasing. During ovulation, the leucorrhea is transparent and abundant, while at other times it is less and thicker. During puberty, the reproductive organs develop vigorously and the production of leucorrhea also increases. In addition, the secretion of these fluids will increase in hot weather, during physical activity, and during sexual impulses, and may sometimes leak out. Therefore, you should pay attention to keeping the genitals clean and hygienic, and wash the vulva frequently with warm water. Even if the amount of leucorrhea is not too much under normal circumstances, you should wash the vulva frequently to reduce the growth and invasion of bacteria.

Abnormal leucorrhea is manifested by changes in color, quality and quantity:

①Purulent leucorrhea. It is yellow in color and has a foul odor. It is most commonly seen in Trichomonas vaginitis, followed by chronic cervicitis. It can also be seen in endometritis, pyometra, vaginal foreign bodies, etc.

② Bean-dreg-like leucorrhea. Also known as cheesy, it is more common in candidal vaginitis and accompanied by vulvar itching.

③Bloody leucorrhea. If there is blood in the leucorrhea, you should be alert to cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, etc. Cervical polyps, submucous uterine fibroids, senile vaginitis, and IUD insertion can also cause it.

④Watery leucorrhea. If the discharge is large and watery, endometrial cancer or fallopian tube cancer should be considered first. If abnormal leucorrhea is seen, the medical history should be obtained in detail, and the leucorrhea should be checked for the presence of Trichomonas or fungi. The cervix, uterus and pelvic cavity should be carefully examined, and a cervical smear, biopsy or diagnostic curettage should be performed if necessary. After the cause is identified, appropriate treatment should be given.

Now we know that the things in the vagina are mainly leucorrhea, and we also have some basic knowledge about leucorrhea. It is definitely good for women to know more about this knowledge. In addition, if you find any abnormality in the color or smell of your leucorrhea, you must go to the hospital for relevant examinations. If you are diagnosed with a gynecological disease, you must seek timely treatment.
