What should I do if I get vaginitis infection?

Vaginitis is one of the most common gynecological diseases. It is said that every woman will suffer from vaginitis once or more than once in her life. There are many causes of vaginitis, and the treatments required are also different. Generally speaking, if you find yourself having some vaginal itching, burning, or yellow-green, milky white, or snot-like vaginal discharge, you should go to the hospital for tests and the specific treatment method will be based on the test results. Today we will mainly look at the different treatments for different inflammations.

1. Trichomonas vaginitis

It is caused by the pathogen Trichomonas vaginalis and is transmitted through sexual intercourse or indirectly (through bathtubs, tubs, swimming pools, clothing, dressings and contaminated medical equipment, etc.). The main symptoms are vulvar itching, increased leucorrhea, and light yellow foamy leucorrhea. In severe cases, the leucorrhea may be mixed with blood. There is also a burning sensation and pain during sexual intercourse. When accompanied by urethral infection, there may be frequent urination, painful urination, and even hematuria.

Treatment usually includes oral metronidazole and intravaginal placement of metronidazole suppositories, with a course of 7 to 10 days; at the same time, the vulva can be flushed with 1% lactic acid solution. The husband should also be treated at the same time and should avoid sexual intercourse during treatment. In addition, patients should pay attention to personal hygiene and avoid unclean sexual intercourse and cross infection.

2. Fungal vaginitis

It is caused by the pathogen Candida albicans, and often occurs in women who use hormones and antibiotics for a long time, diabetic patients and pregnant women. The main routes of infection are sexual intercourse, baths, bath towels, etc. The main manifestations are tofu-like leucorrhea and vulvar itching.

You can take Diflucan 150 mg orally, Canesten vaginally, or use nystatin suppository into the vagina for treatment. Avoid sexual intercourse during treatment, change underwear frequently, and wash utensils with boiling water.

3. Gardnerella vaginitis

It is caused by the pathogen Gardnerella and can be transmitted through sexual intercourse. Gardnerella vaginitis has a high prevalence rate among people with promiscuous sexual relationships. Infection caused by Gardnerella is more common in sexually active women. In the acute stage, leucorrhea increases, has a fishy or ammonia odor, and the vulva is wet and uncomfortable, often accompanied by vaginal burning sensation, sexual intercourse pain and vulvar itching.

To treat this type of vaginal inflammation, tetracycline and sulfathiazole can be made into suppositories and inserted deep into the vagina once a night for 10 days; metronidazole and ampicillin can be taken orally. For those with systemic infection, ampicillin or chloramphenicol can be given intravenously.

4. Gonorrheal vaginitis

It is caused by the pathogen Neisseria gonorrhoeae and can be transmitted through unclean sexual intercourse. A small number of patients are also indirectly infected by wearing swimsuits infected with gonococci or through bathtubs and toilets contaminated with gonococci. Its symptoms include lower abdominal pain, increased vaginal discharge, purulent leucorrhea, redness, swelling and pain in the vaginal opening, etc. If not treated in time, it can turn into chronic gynecological inflammation. 10% to 20% of women may experience infertility or ectopic pregnancy.

Treatment can be with continuous intramuscular injection of ceftriaxone or spectinomycin for 10 days. At the same time, you can choose 100 grams of willow leaves, 15 grams of atractylodes, 15 grams of coptis, 15 grams of phellodendron, 20 grams of patrinia, 15 grams of cnidium monnieri, 30 grams of pulsatilla, 30 grams of sophora flavescens, and 15 grams of kochia scoparia. Boil them in water and wash the vulva while it is warm.

5. Vaginitis caused by tight crotch pants

As the name suggests, this type of vaginitis is caused by women often wearing tight crotch and hip-wrapped briefs and high-elastic tights. Some girls who love beauty often like to wear tights that show their body curves. These pants are tight-crotched and hip-wrapped, and the fabric is made of chemical fiber and is airtight. Vaginal secretions and sweat are not easy to dissipate, which is suitable for bacteria to breed and multiply, causing vaginitis. Its main symptoms are: excessive leucorrhea, itching of the vagina and labia majora and minora, accompanied by frequent urination, urgency, and urethral irritation.

To treat this type of vaginitis, first of all, do not wear tight crotch pants made of chemical fiber fabrics, and wear cotton underwear and loose crotch pants instead. Wash the vulva every night, take ciprofloxacin, vitamin C, or take Chinese patent medicine such as Fuyanbao.

The above is an explanation of what to do if you have vaginitis infection. No matter what kind of inflammation it is, treatment is required. If some female friends experience itching symptoms, they must resist the urge to scratch with their hands. Because the skin of the genitals is very delicate and fragile, once it is scratched, it is likely to cause urinary tract infection.
