What to do if the vagina is itchy and swollen

The genitals are a unique reproductive organ of women. Because they are in contact with the external environment, they are very susceptible to germs and can easily cause various diseases. For example, itching, swelling and pain are inseparable from the vulva. Recently, some female friends have asked me whether vaginal itching and swelling is a serious gynecological disease and what consequences it will cause? Here, the editor will explain this issue to you.

Vaginal itching is a symptom caused by various vaginal diseases, but it can also occur in people with completely normal vaginas. When the itching worsens, patients often become restless, which affects their life and work. The itching is mostly located in the clitoris and labia minora, and may also spread to the labia majora, perineum and even perianal areas.

Main symptoms

Pruritus often occurs in paroxysmal attacks or can be continuous, usually aggravated at night. Unexplained vulvar itching usually only occurs in women of childbearing age or after menopause, often affecting the entire vulva, but may also be limited to a certain part or one side of the vulva. Although vulvovaginal candidiasis and Trichomonas vaginitis - vulvar itching and increased leucorrhea are the main symptoms. The main symptom of vulvar squamous epithelial hyperplasia is vulvar itching, accompanied by loss of vulvar skin pigmentation. Why does vulvar itching caused by pinworm infection occur most frequently at night? In patients with diabetes, sugar in their urine irritates the vulvar skin, especially when complicated by vulvovaginal candidiasis. The vulvar itching is particularly inflammatory and even unbearable, but the local skin and mucous membranes appear normal, or there are only scratches and blood scabs due to excessive scratching. When patients with chronic diseases such as jaundice, vitamin A and B deficiency, anemia, leukemia, etc. experience vulvar itching, it is often part of systemic itching. Hepatobiliary cholestasis during pregnancy can also cause itching of the skin, including the vulva. Although the itching is very severe and even unbearable, the local skin and mucous membranes appear normal, or there are only scratches due to excessive scratching.

In the above content, we analyzed the causes of vaginal itching and swelling in women, and also explained the consequences. Therefore, although this disease seems common, it actually has very serious hidden dangers and should not be taken lightly. Therefore, if female friends find themselves having this symptom, they should not take it lightly but should actively seek treatment. With the current medical level, they will be able to cure it quickly and well, and they will definitely be able to recover soon.
