What is the cause of the swelling in the genitals?

Pubic lumps are a gynecological disease that many women have suffered from, but women don’t know much about it. They don’t know how to deal with a lump when it appears, and they are unwilling to receive treatment because of the special location. Below, the editor introduces several situations in which lumps appear in the genitals. I hope it will be helpful to female friends. Of course, I also remind female friends that if abnormal symptoms occur in the genitals, it is best to go to the hospital for treatment.

1. There is a lump in the vulva, which is neither painful nor itchy

It may be a Bartholin gland cyst, and specific examination is needed to confirm it. If it is, it can be treated with minimally invasive techniques.

A Bartholin gland cyst is a cyst that occurs on the Bartholin gland. The Bartholin glands, also known as the greater vestibular glands, are located on both sides of the vaginal opening, behind the vestibular bulbs, covered by the bulbospongiosus muscle, about the size of a soybean, and are glands responsible for secreting mucus to lubricate the vagina. The gland has its own opening to secrete mucus and is generally not easily blocked. However, if the mucus is blocked due to certain circumstances, the discharge of the Bartholin's gland secretions will be blocked and accumulate in the lumen, causing cystic expansion of the gland. When combined with infection, it will swell and form a Bartholin's gland abscess. Just like acne on the face, once the pores are clogged and infected by excess oil secretion, they will swell and become inflamed.

2. Vaginal lumps, redness, swelling and pain

It could be a Bartholin's gland cyst. The Bartholin's glands are located 1/3 deep in the labia majora on both sides, and the gland ducts open between the hymen and the labia minora. When sexually excited, they secrete yellow mucus, which acts as a lubricant. Bartholin's gland inflammation and cysts are common diseases in women. In the early stages, they are limited to the gland duct openings, and the local area is slightly red and tender. The secretions may increase, accompanied by mild vulvar discomfort. When the inflammation infiltrates deeply and involves the gland ducts and glands, the local area will become red, swollen, hot, and painful. The gland ducts are blocked, and the inflammatory secretions cannot be discharged. They accumulate in the gland cavity to form cysts, which are extremely painful.

Guidance:

Drug treatment can only solve the problem temporarily. Surgical treatment is routinely performed, usually midcapsular dissection and resection. The Bartholin's glands are richly supplied with blood, and there is a lot of bleeding during surgery. After the cyst is removed, if the dead space does not heal well, it is prone to bleeding and infection, and the gland function will be lost. Cystostomy is now commonly used, which has a short operation time, less bleeding, simple operation, no need for hospitalization, low cost, and preserves gland function to avoid vulvar dryness and discomfort. At the same time, we should enhance self-protection awareness and pay attention to personal hygiene to reduce the occurrence of this disease.

Vaginal lumps are basically caused by hygiene problems, or in other words, they are initially caused by not paying attention to hygiene. Therefore, women are advised to pay attention to genital hygiene and consult a doctor immediately if any problems occur. Do not take medicine blindly. If you have a lump in your genitals, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible.
