Why does your heart beat faster during pregnancy?

After pregnancy, many pregnant women will feel nauseous and want to vomit but cannot, and at most they can vomit a little acid. Of course, there are also serious cases where people will vomit out all the food they eat. Of course, there will be other situations, especially in the first three months. Some people may feel dizzy, some may feel sleepy, and so on. However, did you know that your heart rate will also speed up after pregnancy?

When a pregnant woman reaches a certain stage of pregnancy, especially in the late stages of pregnancy, she needs to provide more nutrition and blood to the baby. If the blood does not contain enough oxygen, she will experience symptoms of hypoxia. Moreover, as the baby grows, the mother's internal organs are all squeezed into the upper abdomen, pressing close to the lungs, causing breathing difficulties. Due to the increase in metabolism and circulating blood volume and in order to adapt to the needs of placental circulation, the mother's heart burden increases, so the heart rate will speed up. This phenomenon usually begins to increase in the 10th week and reaches its peak around the 28th week of pregnancy, usually increasing by 30 to 50%. This is a normal physiological phenomenon. Pregnant mothers do not need to worry too much. They should pay more attention to rest and supplement nutrition.

During pregnancy, the blood load increases, and the heart rate of pregnant women will increase to a certain extent, usually 10 to 15 times per minute. If there is no palpitation and the heart rate is not too fast, there will be no major impact.

Pay attention to rest at ordinary times; if the heart rate is too fast or accompanied by symptoms of palpitations, symptomatic treatment is needed. In any case, monitoring blood pressure is necessary to prevent the occurrence of pregnancy-induced hypertension.

Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia can be seen in normal people as well as in patients with various heart diseases, hyperthyroidism, digitalis poisoning, etc. It is characterized by sudden onset and sudden cessation, often lasting for minutes or even hours, and is accompanied by palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, fear, fatigue, a feeling of pressure or suffocation in the precordial area, and even heart failure and syncope. Heart rate 160-250 beats per minute, regular rhythm. When an attack occurs, patients should rest immediately to eliminate their concerns. The following methods of stimulating the vagus nerve can often quickly stop an attack: ① Cough suddenly and forcefully. ② Eat or drink in large gulps. ③Try to tilt your head back or bend your body forward. ④ Take a deep breath, hold your breath, and then exhale deeply with force. ⑤ Use a tongue depressor or chopsticks to stimulate the throat, causing nausea and vomiting. In addition, acupuncture at Neiguan, Tongli, Shenmen and other acupoints is also effective. If the above treatments are ineffective, seek medical attention.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with a normal increased heart rate, but everyone has a tolerance limit, so don't force yourself. Especially for pregnant mothers, if they feel severe discomfort caused by the accelerated heartbeat, they must go to the hospital to see a doctor for a thorough check-up as it is dangerous during pregnancy.
