Is high estrogen normal in pregnant women?

Pregnancy is a major event in a woman's life. During the pregnancy period, women will encounter various problems, both psychologically and physiologically. Pregnant women hope that their babies can grow up healthily, and often go to the hospital for check-ups to ensure their health. During pregnancy, the pregnant woman's body hormones are also changing. Some people are very worried about the problem of high estrogen levels in pregnant women. Let's talk about whether it is normal for pregnant women to have high estrogen levels.

During pregnancy, the hormones in the mother's body change dramatically, and the estrogen level is 10 times higher than usual. Dr. Zhang Feng said that excessive estrogen can cause a series of reactions, stimulate cell changes, and may cause fetal breast diseases. In other words, the estrogen level of a pregnant woman during pregnancy can directly affect the growth and development of the fetus.

The development of female breast is divided into three key periods: the fetal period (breast bud growth period), puberty (rapid growth period), and lactation period (differentiation period). The fetal period refers to the formation of epithelial breast buds at approximately 6-20 weeks of pregnancy. In 1990, foreign expert Trichopoulos first proposed the fetal origin theory of breast cancer, believing that the estrogen level in the fetal period is higher than at any other period, especially in Asians, the estrogen level is high during pregnancy and low during non-pregnancy. During pregnancy, the higher the maternal estrogen level, the higher the risk for a fetus less than 33 weeks, and twins have a greater risk of breast cancer.

Many foreign research tests have deduced the various related causes that may lead to breast cancer by looking at the various external environmental factors that affect women from the time they are in their mother's womb to birth and various stages of their growth. The results of the study showed that the older the pregnant woman was and the higher her estrogen levels were during pregnancy, the higher the risk of her daughter developing breast cancer. Other studies have reported that for every 15-year increase in the mother's age, the incidence of breast cancer in her daughter increases by 29%, with the age cutoff being 25 to 35 years old.

In fact, estrogen is very high throughout the entire process of pregnancy, so it is normal for pregnant women to have high estrogen levels. As long as the pregnant woman has not supplemented estrogen by taking medication during this period, she only needs to have regular prenatal check-ups. These things also show that pregnant women pay attention to themselves and protect the fetus. I believe that with the careful care of mothers, the baby will be healthy.
