Can I get pregnant if I have sex during my period?

Pregnancy is a very important thing. After a woman gets married, she can get pregnant by having sex with her husband. Menstruation is a menstrual cycle for women after adulthood. When the menstrual period comes, the woman's body usually feels painful, but some girls have stronger systems, so they will not feel any discomfort even when the menstrual period comes.

Can I get pregnant if I have sex after my period?

Generally speaking, the chance of getting pregnant during menstruation is smaller, but it is still possible to get pregnant. Also, during menstruation, women's body resistance is weaker, and sexual intercourse may cause inflammation, so sexual intercourse during menstruation is not recommended. Therefore, it is recommended not to have sex during menstruation.

Reason 1: Sexual intercourse during menstruation can lead to urinary tract infection

When a woman reaches her first menstruation, the uterine wall (the layer of tissue inside the uterus) begins to slough off piece by piece. When women have sex during menstruation, it is very easy for bacteria around the private parts and perineum (the area between the vulva and the anus) to be brought into the vagina, cervix and even into the uterus. The bacteria happen to grow and multiply in the bloody area, causing inflammation on the spot, which is called endometritis. Not only will there be fever and lower abdominal pain, but also increased menstrual bleeding and prolonged menstruation.

Reason 2: Sexual intercourse during menstruation causes the uterine wall to flow back into the pelvis, causing endometriosis

Under normal circumstances, the uterine wall is expelled from the body with menstrual blood during menstruation. If a woman has sex during menstruation and reaches the peak of her sexual excitement, the uterus will contract. At this time, the endometrial debris that has fallen into the uterus can enter the fallopian tubes with the pressure of uterine contractions, and then enter the abdomen and pelvis along the fallopian tubes. No matter where it falls into and develops, endometriosis will occur.

This disease can cause adhesions between the fallopian tubes, uterus and pelvis, and can also cause hypertrophy of the ovarian surface and blood retention, which can destroy the normal growth and development of oocytes and affect ovulation, and ultimately lead to infertility. Therefore, the menstrual period is not suitable for married life.

Reason 3: Sexual intercourse during menstruation can make it difficult for women to get pregnant

Sexual intercourse during menstruation can squeeze fragments of the uterine wall into the pelvis due to uterine contractions during sexual excitement. Because sperm meets the zinc oxide oil in the uterine wall and the overflowed red blood cells, and even enters the blood, it can cause the formation of anti-sperm antibodies, which can lead to pregnancy.
