What are the reasons for a hysterectomy?

Subtotal hysterectomy is the abbreviation of subtotal hysterectomy, which mainly involves removing the uterus while preserving the cervix. It is a relatively common gynecological disease surgery. Because they do not understand the reasons for hysterectomy, many women still have many questions when undergoing this surgery. So, what are the reasons for a hysterectomy? Let’s take a closer look at it.

There are several reasons to have a hysterectomy, including:

(1) Severe chronic infection (pelvic infection STD)

(2) Severe endometrial infection

(3) Uterine fibroids

(4) Uterine fibroids, endometrial cancer

(5) Cervical cancer, ovarian cancer

(6) Severe uterine bleeding (uterine rupture, postpartum hemorrhage)

Hysterectomy is a common gynecological surgery, which can be divided into total hysterectomy, partial hysterectomy and extended hysterectomy. A partial hysterectomy removes only the upper part of the uterus, leaving the uterine base and cervix intact. A radical hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus and cervix. An extended hysterectomy removes the uterus, both fallopian tubes and ovaries, and the upper part of the vagina. Hysterectomy can be done through the abdomen (called an abdominal hysterectomy) or through the vagina (called a vaginal hysterectomy).

Due to the structural characteristics of the female reproductive tract, there are a variety of methods available to remove the diseased uterus. The traditional surgical method is to remove the uterus through the abdomen or vagina. Laparoscopic hysterectomy refers to cutting the ligaments, blood vessels, and vaginal walls around the uterus through a laparoscope, removing the uterus from the vagina, and then suturing the vaginal ends again under laparoscopy. There are several different types of laparoscopic hysterectomy besides total hysterectomy, including laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH), laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy, and laparoscopic intrafascial hysterectomy.

Laparoscopic technology has brought medicine into the era of minimally invasive surgery, which can be summed up in a few words: minimal damage, minimal inflammatory response and optimal wound healing, minimal tissue scarring and optimal therapeutic effect.

The above is an introduction to the reasons for hysterectomy. I hope it will be helpful for women to understand. When women suffer from many diseases, they often need to undergo a hysterectomy for treatment. This is a necessary thing. After understanding these situations, you must choose the appropriate time for surgery in a timely manner according to your condition to avoid more serious consequences.
