In the late pregnancy, it is appropriate to sleep on the left side. This sleeping position can correct the right rotation of the enlarged uterus, reduce the pressure of the uterus on the abdominal aorta and iliac arteries, and avoid the pressure of the uterus on the inferior vena cava, increase the amount of cardiac blood output in pregnant women, reduce edema, improve the blood perfusion of the uterus and placenta, help reduce premature birth, avoid the pressure of the uterus on the kidneys, and thus benefit the growth and development of the fetus and eugenics.

It is not advisable to sleep on your back or on your right side: It is not advisable to sleep on your back in the late pregnancy. When you sleep in the supine position, the enlarged uterus compresses the inferior vena cava, affecting blood circulation and causing edema or varicose veins in the lower limbs and vulva. It also reduces the amount of blood flowing from the lower limbs to the heart, causing ischemia and hypoxia in the brain. Pregnant women may feel dizzy, palpitations, nausea, shortness of breath and other symptoms, as well as pale complexion, weakness in limbs, cold sweats, etc. If the above symptoms occur, you should immediately sleep on your left side. Your blood pressure will gradually return to normal and the symptoms will disappear.

Lying on the right side will cause the uterus to rotate to the right to varying degrees. This will put the ligaments and mesentery that maintain the normal position of the uterus under tension. The blood vessels in the mesentery are stretched, affecting the blood supply to the fetus, causing chronic fetal hypoxia. In severe cases, it can also cause fetal suffocation and death.

Maintain a good indoor environment: the suitable indoor temperature is 17℃-23℃, and the suitable indoor humidity is 40%~60%. You can also use an indoor air purifier to purify and disinfect the indoor air regularly.

After understanding what to do if you have poor sleep in the late pregnancy, you can follow the above methods to improve it. However, when a woman is pregnant, if she often feels unwell and has pain in her lower abdomen, she needs to go to the hospital for examination in time to avoid harm to the fetus, especially in the early stages of pregnancy.
