What is Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome

Women's diseases are one of the more common pathologies in the medical field and are not easy to cure completely. As the pace of life quickens, the chances of infertility among many women are also increasing year by year. There are many reasons for infertility, but among patients treating infertility, we may hear a pathological term called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. So what exactly is ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome? Today I will explain it to you.

OHSS can occur after the follicles are stimulated in various ways. The main high-risk factors associated with OHSS are: ① Those whose ovaries are highly sensitive to ovulation-inducing drugs (highly sensitive ovaries), which is common in patients with polycystic ovary and young (age <35 years old) thin people; ② The use of HCG to induce ovulation or maintain the corpus luteum of pregnancy; ③ Endogenous HCG secretion in early pregnancy; ④ Those with a history of OHSS.

When you use ovulation inducers, if it causes an overreaction of the ovaries, ovarian swelling, abdominal effusion, pleural effusion, etc. may occur. More serious cases may include abdominal swelling, inability to urinate due to blood concentration, difficulty breathing, kidney or liver dysfunction, cerebral infarction, myocardial infarction, and even death.

The main cause of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is the use of HMG (human menopausal gonadotropin) + HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) therapy during treatment. Side effects will appear 2 to 3 days after HCG injection. Some people also experience the same symptoms after taking clomiphene, so if you feel any discomfort, be sure to consult a doctor and ask them to relieve your pain.

If you are a thin woman or suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome, you should be especially careful when undergoing HMG+HCG treatment, because you are the favorite target of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. When undergoing treatment, you should pay attention to changes in your body. Once any abnormal phenomenon occurs, you should seek medical attention immediately so that the doctor can deal with it as soon as possible and allow you to successfully treat the disease.

Through the above understanding, many friends should have a certain understanding of this syndrome. So no matter what kind of disease it is, the first thing we need to do is to face the disease, understand its symptoms, actively cooperate with the treatment, and everything will be fine. There are many kinds of female diseases. In order to have a healthy body, we hope that women will have regular gynecological examinations.
