Causes of anovulatory amenorrhea

Causes of anovulatory amenorrhea

Amenorrhea is a common gynecological disease nowadays. This disease has a serious impact on the female reproductive system. Therefore, many women with anovulatory amenorrhea want to know the specific cause. In order for you to understand it as soon as possible and for you to have normal menstruation as soon as possible, please take a look at the introduction below.

What is the reason for anovulation and amenorrhea? Relevant experts have proposed that there are mainly the following reasons why women have no ovulation and amenorrhea.

1. Hypothalamic disorder is the cause of anovulation: it can be divided into functional and organic types. The former includes idiopathic diencephalic amenorrhea, psychogenic amenorrhea, functional hyperprolactinemia, and anorexia nervosa; the latter includes diencephalic tumors, post-encephalitis, and post-head trauma. Since the hypothalamus is a key link in the gonadal axis, it regulates the function of the pituitary gland by releasing GnRH. Hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian dysfunction (endocrine disorder) causes anovulatory menstruation, irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, etc., which ultimately causes women to not ovulate and lead to infertility.

2. Ovarian dysfunction is the cause of anovulation: including primary ovarian amenorrhea and secondary amenorrhea are the causes of anovulation. The former includes Turner syndrome, etc. The latter includes premature ovarian failure, organic damage to the ovaries, such as loss of function after radiation exposure, and destruction caused by tumors and inflammation. Congenital ovarian dysgenesis, polycystic ovary syndrome, premature ovarian failure, functional ovarian tumors, ovarian endometriosis cysts, etc. This is one of the most common reasons why women never ovulate.

3. Polycystic ovary disease is the reason for not ovulating: due to the uncoordinated hormone secretion in the body, the eggs cannot mature, and many small follicles accumulate on the ovaries, but they cannot ovulate. Patients also often experience masculinizing symptoms such as hirsutism and acne. Using appropriate medications to induce ovulation can restore normal ovarian function.

4. Age factors are the reason for not ovulating: Usually one to two years before the first menstruation and when menopause is about to come, although menstruation occurs, most of the cycles are without ovulation. The menstrual cycle at this time is often irregular, but rarely requires treatment because it is a normal physiological phenomenon for women not to ovulate after reaching a certain age. It is difficult for women of a certain age to conceive due to the lack of ovulation.

5. Systemic diseases are also the cause of anovulation: the most common are endocrine and metabolic diseases, such as severe malnutrition, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, adrenal cortex dysfunction, diabetes and obesity, which can affect ovarian function and lead to anovulation.

The causes of anovulatory amenorrhea are specifically introduced above for many women. If you encounter such a situation, you can learn about it through the above understanding, and then go to a regular professional hospital for effective treatment. I believe that after effective treatment, your anovulatory amenorrhea will be better treated and your menstruation will be normal.
