Health risks of different shoes for women

High heels, pointed-toe shoes, platform shoes...pairs of fashionable and beautiful shoes are an indispensable weapon of charm for women. But few people know that these various types of shoes pose hidden dangers to health.

High heel

Wearing high heels will increase the force on the toes and squeeze them, which will increase the force on the ankles and knees accordingly. The waist and abdomen must be straightened forward to maintain balance, which can easily lead to strain on the waist and buttocks muscles and ligaments. Too high heels will also shift the center of gravity forward, and the focus is mainly on the forefoot. Wearing them for a long time will accelerate joint degeneration and even cause hallux valgus, bunion, etc. Recommendation: A heel of 2-3 cm is enough to make a person look tall and energetic.

Platform shoes

When people walk, the heel, big toe and calf form three fulcrums, making it easy and steady for people to walk. Wearing thick-soled "platform shoes" changes the human body's normal center of gravity, causing the arch of the foot to lose its stable function for walking, making it easy to sprain the ankle. It also affects the development of bones and joints in young girls, causing arch deformities, chronic strain of the periosteum and calcium loss, leading to fractures. Recommendation: The thickness of the sole should be controlled within 6 cm; walk steadily and avoid strenuous activities such as climbing and running.

Pointed shoes

The toe of pointed shoes is narrow and flat, which is a design flaw and can easily cause wear and tear on the feet if worn for a long time. The squeezing of the toes may cause the collapse and muscle trapping of the "transverse arch" and "middle arch" of the foot, and even lead to toe deformation, hallux valgus, and toe overlapping. Long-term wearing can also cause thickening of the plantar fibers and fat and the growth of "corns". In severe cases, it can also lead to deformation of the foot bones and damage the knee joints and spine, especially in women under 23 years old.

Ultra-thin flat shoes

Wearing flat shoes occasionally can help relax your muscles, but shoes with too thin soles will cause your center of gravity to move too far back when you walk, giving you a feeling of your heels hitting the ground, and the vibrations can be transmitted to your brain. Without the support of the heels, you'll increase your risk of plantar shinitis, a disease that causes heel pain. Recommendation: Do not wear them for a long time, especially do not wear the same pair of shoes for several consecutive days.

To choose a pair of comfortable and healthy shoes, you can follow the following four standards: the toe part should be higher so that the toes can be slightly bent at the toe and have appropriate space to move; the front and waist of the shoe should be sturdy to avoid swaying from side to side; the width of the shoe should have 0.5 cm of space for movement; the leather of the back of the shoe should be soft, and the heel should be hard, so as to protect the feet.
