Are uterine fibroids serious?

Uterine fibroids are a common gynecological disease among women and are a benign tumor. And it is a relatively common one. At present, the specific cause of uterine fibroids is still unclear in medicine, but some people agree that it may involve problems with human hormones. Generally, patients with uterine fibroids do not have any obvious symptoms. Most patients are discovered during gynecological examinations, but of course not all patients are asymptomatic.

Some patients may find that they have intrauterine bleeding, or their vaginal discharge suddenly increases, etc. These may be symptoms of uterine fibroids. Many people think that uterine fibroids are benign tumors and do not care about them because they have no symptoms. So are uterine fibroids serious?

Uterine fibroids are a common gynecological disease in women and a clinical manifestation of chronic uterine tumors. Women with uterine fibroids need timely treatment. If they are not treated in time, it will cause certain harm to women.

Then, the damage caused by uterine fibroids includes:

What are the dangers of uterine fibroids?

Menstrual disorders. The specific manifestations are that the menstrual cycle is not irregular, but the menstrual period is prolonged or the menstrual flow increases.

Secondary anemia. Due to the increase in menstrual volume, patients are prone to anemia. Most of them suffer from moderate anemia, but there are also cases of severe anemia.

Causes infertility. The proportion of infertility caused by uterine fibroids will account for 40%. There are two types of infertility. The first is the inability to get pregnant, and the second is the inability of the embryo to implant after pregnancy, resulting in miscarriage.

Increased vaginal discharge. If the uterine fibroids are not large or numerous, they will manifest as increased vaginal discharge after the end of menstruation.

Abdominal pain occurs. If uterine fibroids in the uterus degenerate, abdominal pain will occur; and if pedunculated uterine fibroids twist, abdominal pain will also occur.

Causes lumps and compression symptoms. When uterine fibroids grow to a certain size, compression symptoms will appear. If they compress the bladder, urinary system symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and increased nocturia will appear; if they compress the rectum, constipation will occur, or a feeling of urge to defecate but inability to defecate will occur; if the uterine fibroids grow to one side and compress the sciatic nerve on one side, the patient will experience numbness and pain in the lower limbs.

Although uterine fibroids are a common disease, patients with this disease must seek treatment as soon as possible, especially women who are not yet pregnant. The presence of uterine fibroids can cause infertility, so it is important to treat it in a timely manner. Avoid worsening of the condition.
