Recently, the minimally invasive spine surgery team of Hunan Provincial People's Hospital successfully applied arthroscopic-assisted uni-portal spinal surgery (AUSS) to complete surgical treatment for multiple patients with lumbar disc herniation and lumbar spinal stenosis, marking a new breakthrough in the field of minimally invasive surgery by the spine surgery department of Hunan Provincial People's Hospital and enriching the means of minimally invasive endoscopic treatment of spinal surgery. AUSS, together with transforaminal endoscopic surgery, unilateral double-channel spinal endoscopy (UBE) and other surgical methods, constitute a new system of spinal endoscopic treatment methods. A month ago, 55-year-old Mr. Chen experienced pain in his waist and right lower limb. After trying conservative treatments such as medication and acupuncture, the symptoms did not ease, but gradually worsened, seriously affecting his daily life. After being introduced by a friend, Mr. Chen came to the expert clinic of Dr. Shen Xiongjie, chief physician of the Department of Spine Surgery at Hunan Provincial People's Hospital for help. ▲Preoperative examination suggests: L5-S1 intervertebral disc herniation, right nerve root compression ▲Preoperative examination suggests: L5-S1 intervertebral disc herniation, right nerve root compression 2 After conducting a detailed examination of the patient, department director Professor Liu Xiangyang, deputy director Professor Shen Xiongjie and others analyzed that: Judging from the examination results, Mr. Chen's 5th lumbar vertebra and 1st sacral intervertebral disc protruded hugely and protruded upward, obviously compressing the right lumbar 5 nerve root and causing symptoms such as low back pain and numbness of the lower limbs. This is a typical lumbar disc herniation, which has met the surgical indications and requires timely surgical treatment. In order to relieve the patient's pain as quickly as possible and minimize surgical trauma, Professor Liu Xiangyang and Professor Shen Xiongjie jointly developed a surgical plan for him and decided to use AUSS to perform decompression surgery on him. ▲Chief Physician Shen Xiongjie and Deputy Chief Physician Peng Shuai performed lumbar AUSS surgery on the patient After sufficient preoperative preparation, Chief Physician Shen Xiongjie and Deputy Chief Physician Peng Shuai opened a window on the patient's lumbar lamina with the assistance of endoscopic instruments and removed the prolapsed intervertebral disc. There was little bleeding during the operation, the anatomical structure of the surgical field was clear, and the nerves were completely decompressed. After the operation, Mr. Chen felt that his back pain and numbness and pain in his right lower limbs were significantly relieved compared to before the operation. He got out of bed and resumed his normal life the next day after the operation. ▲AUSS surgery only leaves a small incision on the patient's waist What is AUSS technology? AUSS is an arthroscopically assisted single-port spinal endoscopy technique, which is a new spinal endoscopy technique. It combines the advantages of UBE technique and arthroscopic technique, places the working channel and the observation channel in the same soft incision, and has the characteristics of wide decompression range, large operation space, simple positioning, and less fluoroscopy. It is the embodiment of endoscopic surgery. It can decompress nerves more thoroughly, accurately and safely, and can be applied to a variety of degenerative diseases of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, greatly improving the work efficiency and decompression range under endoscopy, and patients can get out of bed and move around early after surgery, reducing bedridden complications and accelerating recovery.
