Do you get red spots from the fire? Do you get blisters? And they itch a lot? ? Keep warm in a proper way

When winter comes, the cold wind blows and you shiver with cold, right?

If you don’t want to go out, you can just sit around the fireplace and play a couple of games of mahjong. How cozy is that?

Watching TV, cracking melon seeds, with the sun shining warmly beside you, you would forget that it is winter, right?

Putting a hot water bottle or a heat pad under the quilt at night is a great savior for people who are afraid of cold.

However, everyone should be careful, if you don't keep warm properly, you may develop various skin problems!!! Heating is good for a while, but your skin won't be able to bear it? As a Sichuanese, we rely not only on our righteousness to keep warm, but also on the sun, hot water bottles, electric blankets, foot dryers, and warm baby products that are indispensable in every household. However, if you keep warm too much, you are likely to develop the following skin problems:
part 1

Have you noticed that after a few days of sitting by the fire, your legs are likely to become like this? It is very itchy, with many small bumps on your legs, and you can't sleep well in the middle of the night?

part 2

I also found that this might be the case!

The red spots on my legs are like marble spots! They appeared overnight, and I almost thought I had some weird disease (my heart was so tight).

Part 3

Or maybe it is like this!

A blister appeared for no apparent reason, and it didn't hurt at all. It broke my skin, and it wouldn't heal properly, leaving behind an ugly scar.

How can heating cause so many skin problems? Today, Dr. Guo Shenghong from the Department of Dermatology at West China Hospital Ziyang Hospital will tell you about winter heating! (See, I am really worried that one or two of you will have skin problems. I am really worried)

one

Skin is drier in winter, and if you sit by a fire or keep warm, your skin will get even drier, which can easily lead to dry eczema (as the name suggests, dry to the point of eczema). Most symptoms include dry, cracked, flaky skin, and sometimes small red bumps, accompanied by varying degrees of itching (for mild cases, you can just scratch your skin a few times, and at most your skin will break; for more annoying cases, you can scratch your hands until they become numb in the middle of the night).
Dry eczema often appears on the front of the calves when people are sitting by the fire or keeping warm. The elderly are at high risk of dry eczema because their skin sebaceous glands secrete less oil, they are afraid of cold, and they like to use electric blankets. Men also have a higher incidence rate than women because they rarely apply body lotion. People with dry skin diseases such as ichthyosis are also more likely to develop dry eczema.

If dry eczema has already occurred, the first thing to do is to stop high temperature stimulation and try to reduce the use of electric blankets, stoves, small suns, and warm baby. Before going to bed or after taking a bath, strengthen skin moisturizing work and apply body lotion or moisturizing cream appropriately. Try to avoid wearing too tight chemical fiber clothing, and mainly wear pure cotton underwear. In most cases, the skin will gradually return to normal after strengthening moisturizing (just reminding you to remember to apply more moisturizing cream).

two

Due to long-term exposure to high temperature that is not enough to cause scalds or burns, the skin develops erythema irritum. This is a physical skin disease, which is mainly manifested by changes in the reticular capillaries and pigmentation of the skin in the affected area. Occasionally, blisters, epidermal atrophy, and thickening of keratinization may occur. Over time, the color gradually changes from the initial light red to dark red or reddish brown.

This disease is more common in people who often work in high temperatures, use heat therapy to relieve pain, or use heating equipment. The most important treatment principle is to avoid the stimulation of heat sources, then keep them moisturized, and wait for them to heal slowly (if it has been half a month and it is too tight to heal, don't wait for it to heal, you still have to go to the hospital for a check-up).

Low-temperature burns refer to chronic burns caused by prolonged contact with low-temperature objects above 45°C. Don't underestimate it just because the temperature of the heating object is not high. Because of the long duration of heat exposure, many low-temperature burns appear to be just small blisters, but the damage may have penetrated deep into the subcutaneous tissue, making it difficult to heal and leaving scars. Some patients with severe conditions may even need surgery.

Take the example of a hot pack. Don’t underestimate the temperature of a hot pack, it can even cook eggs. Imagine if eggs were our hands, legs, feet, etc. When we sleep, we put a hot pack in the quilt and sleep warmly. Then, a piece of your flesh will be “cooked”!

Heating devices like heat pads and hot water bottles are very warm and comfortable and can be used for several hours. By the time you feel the pain, it is already too late.

ask

So how should we keep warm in winter?

How to avoid these skin problems?

Whether it is a small sun, a fireplace, a hot water bottle, a heat pack, an electric blanket... the main reason for the problem is that when people use these heating devices, the temperature and time are not well controlled, and the skin is not moisturized properly. Please pay special attention to the following precautions!

Pay attention

1. Do not get too close or place heating devices (such as heat packs, hot water bottles, etc.) directly on the skin.

It is best to keep a distance of more than one meter when using, or use several layers of clothing or towels to reduce the contact temperature.

2. Do not use it for too long

The same part should not be heated for more than 2 hours. When playing mahjong or watching TV, get up and walk around from time to time, stay away from heat sources, and reduce the local continuous high temperature stimulation.

3. Do not use electric blankets or other heating devices when sleeping

When you are sleeping, it is difficult to find out in time if you get burned, which can make the injury worse. You can use it before going to bed and turn it off or take it away when you sleep. And if you want to use an electric blanket, remember to strengthen the skin moisturizing work and insist on applying body lotion.

4. Pay special attention to special groups

Children, the elderly, paralyzed patients, drunkards and other people who have limited mobility or are insensitive to temperature should try to avoid using electric blankets, heat packs and other heating devices.

If that doesn't work, then put on more clothes, add a thick quilt, and drink more hot water...
