Just after drying the quilt, the person was sent to the hospital? This inconspicuous "little action" is so dangerous

The temperature has dropped sharply in the past few days, but fortunately the weather is clear, so many people have taken out their winter quilts, washed and dried them, and have been busy.

But it should be noted that there are also certain methods and ways to dry quilts. Hangzhou Fuyang Traditional Chinese Medicine Orthopedic Hospital has recently received many patients injured in this way. 70-year-old Aunt Wu (pseudonym) is one of them.

Recently, while the sun was good, Aunt Wu dried all the quilts in her home, and washed a few quilt covers. After all were washed and dried, Aunt Wu quickly stuffed the quilt into the quilt cover. After putting it on, she found that some corners were not flat, so she picked up the four corners of the quilt with both hands and shook it up and down vigorously.

Unexpectedly, such an insignificant little action caused Aunt Wang to suffer a lot: as she was shaking, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her shoulder, and since then she could not move her arm, so she rushed to Fuyang Traditional Chinese Medicine Orthopedic Hospital for treatment.

After receiving the patient, Li Jian, director of the Joint Ward II, conducted a careful examination and found that Aunt Wu suffered a typical "rotator cuff tear".

Rotator cuff injuries are not uncommon in life. According to the degree of injury, they can be divided into partial tears and complete tears, which are mostly caused by trauma.

The essence of the rotator cuff is the tendon, which is commonly known as the "tendon". Director Li Jian explained that like our skin, it will gradually lose its elasticity, just like a rubber band, which will be damaged through repeated use until it finally breaks completely.

Aunt Wu's rotator cuff was already "aging", so a strong force could easily cause it to fail. In daily practice, Director Li Jian has seen many types of patients, some of whom were in their seventies or eighties and injured themselves while lifting heavy objects, while others got up early to stretch in the park and suddenly exerted too much force, causing their rotator cuff to tear.

However, because Aunt Wu's tear was more serious, minimally invasive surgery was required to repair it. Afterwards, Li Jian's team successfully completed the rotator cuff tear repair surgery for Aunt Wu, and she is currently recovering well.

In addition to rotator cuff injuries, the number of patients seeking medical treatment due to shoulder periarthritis has also shown a clear upward trend since the beginning of autumn, which may be related to cold joints.

"In the past, these shoulder joints were more common in middle-aged and elderly people, but now more and more young people are affected." Director Li Jian explained that this may be related to the fact that modern people often work at desks and do not exercise properly.

How to protect the shoulder joint?

Doctors especially remind people not to "force themselves" when lifting heavy objects. Instead, they can choose to lift heavy objects in small amounts multiple times or with the help of multiple people to reduce the possibility of rotator cuff tears.

In addition, when doing housework or exercising, remember to "take it slow". Don't use too much force all at once. Proceed step by step and do what you can.

People who sit for long periods of time need to perform shoulder exercises regularly to avoid joint stiffness. With the arrival of winter, they also need to take precautions against cold and keep warm.

Of course, whether it is to prevent rotator cuff injury or arthritis, it is important to "reinforce" through scientific and reasonable exercises on a regular basis.
