Emergency medical treatment! A Fujian man suddenly developed edema, and a checkup showed that his kidneys were almost "scrapped"... This action caused him great harm

March 14th this year is World Kidney Day

Chronic kidney disease has a high incidence

Low awareness rate and difficult to detect in the early stage

Known as the "Silent Killer"

It is a recognized global public health problem

However, many people don’t know that

It is also a diabetic patient

The most common complications

A man in Xiamen believed in a folk remedy

It almost led to tragedy...

Misuse of folk remedies and taking medicines

The kidney was almost "scrapped"

Recently, the Nephrology Department of Xiamen University Zhongshan Hospital received a 77-year-old patient named Mr. Wang. Mr. Wang has had diabetes for more than 30 years, but he has never taken it seriously.
Five years ago, Mr. Wang went to the hospital for proteinuria in his urine, but he did not follow the doctor's advice to control his blood sugar ; three years ago, an examination found that his blood creatinine was elevated, but Mr. Wang still did not take it seriously and continued to eat and drink as usual. Later, he mistakenly believed in folk remedies and took a lot of medicine indiscriminately, and various complications followed.

"When the patient came to see the doctor, he had retinal hemorrhage, edema all over his body , and his weight had skyrocketed by more than ten kilograms . He also had a series of complications."

Professor Guan Tianjun, head of the hospital's nephrology department, said: "His creatinine reached a level of nearly 1000μmol/L (normal male 53-106μmol/L), which means that his kidney function is only about 3% , which is a very serious level. He can no longer excrete toxins and water in his body in time , which is why his weight soared."

Three weeks ago, unable to bear the pain brought by various complications , Mr. Wang finally made up his mind to undergo hemodialysis treatment, and the Nephrology Department developed a detailed diagnosis and treatment plan for him.

"After hemodialysis, we cleared out the more than ten kilograms of excess water in the patient's body, reduced the toxins, and corrected the anemia." Professor Guan Tianjun said that after treatment, Uncle Wang's body shape gradually returned to normal. After this " life-and-death " treatment, he finally realized the seriousness of diabetic nephropathy.

According to reports, diabetic nephropathy is one of the most important microvascular complications of diabetes. It refers to chronic kidney disease caused by diabetes and is an important cause of chronic kidney disease and renal failure.

Clinically, it often presents with symptoms such as massive proteinuria, hypertension, edema, and some patients may experience anemia , and it is often combined with other microvascular complications, such as diabetic retinopathy.

In these cases, renal function screening is required

Professor Guan Tianjun reminds that renal function screening should be carried out as long as edema, foamy urine, hematuria, increased nocturia, hypertension, diabetes, etc. occur.

"Generally, urine routine, blood routine, renal function and renal ultrasound examinations can tell you the health of your kidneys," said Professor Guan Tianjun. "If kidney disease is not discovered in its early stages and you wait until serious symptoms appear before seeking medical attention, your kidney function may have been largely lost, and it may also lead to serious complications in multiple organs throughout the body , which is very harmful."

Symptoms of early and middle stage kidney disease include: slight changes in urine, fatigue, loss of appetite, puffy eyelids in the morning, increased nocturia, dry and itchy skin, and leg cramps .

When only about 20% of the normal nephron remains, end-stage renal failure will occur. At this time, only replacement therapies such as hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis or even kidney transplantation can be used .

Doctor: Pay attention to 4 things to protect your kidneys

The most effective way to prevent kidney damage is to:

Early detection and early intervention .

In daily life,

Professor Guan Tianjun suggested:

▽▽▽

1. Maintain a healthy mentality and exercise properly ;

2. Patients with a history of hypertension and hyperglycemia should pay attention to controlling blood sugar and monitoring blood pressure ;

3. Eat a healthy diet, eat foods containing high-quality protein in moderation, and maintain adequate water intake ;

4. If you feel unwell, go to a regular hospital for treatment as soon as possible, and do not trust folk "home remedies" or "secret recipes" .
