Anemia refers to a clinical symptom in which the volume of red blood cells in the human body's peripheral blood is reduced, that is, the number of hemoglobin, red blood cells, etc. per unit volume is lower than the lower limit of the normal reference value for the same gender, age and region. Anemia can be divided into three categories according to the cause and pathogenesis: one is anemia caused by reduced red blood cell production, such as anemia caused by abnormal hematopoietic stem cells (aplastic anemia), anemia caused by abnormal hematopoietic regulation (myelofibrosis), and anemia caused by insufficient or impaired hematopoietic raw materials (iron deficiency anemia, megaloblastic anemia); the second is anemia caused by excessive destruction of red blood cells; the third is anemia caused by hemorrhagic loss. Iron deficiency is only one of the causes of anemia classification, so not all anemia patients need iron supplementation. For patients with anemia, it is recommended to go to the hospital first to clarify the cause of anemia and treat the cause. |
