Clarithromycin belongs to the macrolide antibiotic class and is mainly used to treat upper and lower respiratory tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria (such as pharyngitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), skin and soft tissue infections (such as folliculitis, erysipelas, wound infections), urethritis and cervicitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, etc. It is not recommended to use clarithromycin with nifedipine, because nifedipine is metabolized in the liver by cytochrome P450 3A4 enzyme (CYP3A4), and clarithromycin will inhibit the activity of CYP3A4, thereby inhibiting the metabolism of nifedipine, increasing its blood concentration, and increasing the risk of hypotension and acute kidney injury in patients. |
