Do you know these things about high blood pressure?

The theme of this year's World Hypertension Day is "Accurate measurement, effective control, healthy longevity", which aims to raise people's awareness of hypertension worldwide. Regarding issues related to hypertension, let's listen to the advice given by Professor Zhang Yan, a famous Chinese medicine doctor in Liaoning Province!

Professor Zhang Yan said: In recent years, the prevalence of hypertension has continued to increase, and although the treatment and control rates have improved, they are still at a low level. I suggest that everyone should pay attention to the prevention and treatment of hypertension. Continuous high blood pressure will not only cause some uncomfortable symptoms, but also damage our blood vessels, heart, brain, kidneys and other important organs, affecting physical health and even endangering life.

What are the symptoms of high blood pressure?

Hypertension is often related to genetics, diet, mental stress, smoking, obesity, etc. Symptoms vary from person to person, and the more common symptoms include headache, dizziness, head swelling, tinnitus, neck pain, fatigue, shortness of breath, chest tightness, palpitations, nausea, blurred vision, etc., and may even cause various complications.

What are the dangers of high blood pressure?

1. Heart damage:

① Damage to the heart and blood vessels: When blood pressure is higher than normal for a long time, the blood flow impacts the blood vessel wall and damages the vascular endothelium, causing lipids to deposit there, gradually causing atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, etc.

② Damage to the heart itself: Continuous increase in arterial pressure will increase the burden on the heart, causing compensatory left ventricular hypertrophy. Ventricular hypertrophy, followed by cardiac dilatation. Hypertension can lead to arrhythmia, heart failure and sudden cardiac death.

2. Cerebrovascular damage:

The most common brain symptoms of hypertension are dizziness and headache. Acute cerebrovascular diseases caused by hypertension mainly include cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, etc. Long-term high blood pressure can cause arteriosclerosis, reduce the elasticity of the blood vessel wall and increase its fragility.

3. Kidney damage:

Except for special circumstances, the process of high blood pressure damaging the kidneys is relatively long. Since the kidneys have a strong compensatory capacity, the initial manifestation is increased nocturia. Long-term high blood pressure can lead to renal artery sclerosis, renal insufficiency, uremia, etc.

4. Retinopathy:

Long-term high blood pressure can damage the tiny blood vessels in the retina, causing retinal diseases and symptoms such as retinal edema, hemorrhage, hard exudates, and papilledema.

How to prevent high blood pressure?

1. Keep exercising: Moderate exercise can prevent and control high blood pressure, such as walking, swimming, and Tai Chi.

2. Limit salt intake: A high-sodium diet increases the risk of high blood pressure. It is recommended that adults should not consume more than 5 grams of salt per day.

3. Maintain a balanced nutrition: Eat a balanced diet, reduce the intake of high-fat and high-sugar foods, and eat more fresh vegetables and fruits.

4. Quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption: Quitting smoking and limiting alcohol consumption can better prevent high blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

Warm reminder: It is not scary to be diagnosed with high blood pressure. Early detection and early treatment. Follow the doctor's advice and improve your lifestyle. It will not affect your normal life!
