TechInsights: Asia Pacific smartphone market shipments to grow 8% year-on-year in Q1 2024

According to the latest report from research firm TechInsights, in the first quarter of 2024, shipments of smartphones in the Asia-Pacific region increased by 8% year-on-year and decreased by 7% month-on-month, but the overall performance was still higher than the same period last year. In terms of specific brands, OPPO (including OnePlus) won the shipment championship with a market share of 15%, becoming the leader in the Asia-Pacific smartphone market.

Although OPPO won the championship in terms of shipments, there was still a slight decline of 8% compared with the same period last year.

At the same time, Xiaomi achieved a strong performance with a year-on-year growth of 25%, and its market share reached 14%, ranking second after OPPO.

vivo ranked third with a similar market share of 14%, while Apple and Samsung ranked fourth and fifth with market shares of 13% and 11% respectively. Apple's shipments decreased by 14% year-on-year, while Samsung's decreased by 5%.

TechInsights' report also pointed out that the improvement in market conditions and the normalization of inventory differences were the main reasons driving the year-on-year growth in shipments.

In addition, the annual growth rate of Chinese brands such as Huawei, Motorola, and Infinix reached triple-digit percentages, showing the strong recovery momentum of Chinese brands in the Asia-Pacific market.
