According to the latest report from Counterpoint Research, sales in the high-end mobile phone market (wholesale price ≥ US$600) will increase by 6% year-on-year in 2023, setting a new record. Data shows that Apple accounts for more than 70% of the market, Samsung ranks second with 17%, and Huawei ranks third with a strong return of 5% . Among them, Apple is still the undisputed leader in the high-end market, but due to the release of Huawei's Mate 60 series, Apple's share has declined this year.

Samsung has gained more market share with its Galaxy S23 and foldable series, ranking second in global high-end mobile phone market sales in 2023, which means that foldable phones have become a differentiated product in the high-end market .

In terms of regions, most of the growth in the global high-end market in 2023 is driven by China, Western Europe, India, and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region , the agency said.

The agency also believes that high-end market sales in China, India, the Middle East and Africa, and Latin America may set new records, with India being the fastest growing high-end market in the world.

It is understood that in the high-end market, it is the ultra-high-end mobile phone market that drives the growth of high-end mobile phone sales. In 2023, the price of US$1,000 and above will account for more than one-third of the total sales in the high-end market.

Commenting on the growth in the premium segment, senior analyst Varun Mishra said there has been a shift in consumer buying patterns in the smartphone market.

He admitted that regarding the importance of smartphones, consumers are willing to spend more money to get a high-quality device that they can use for a longer period of time.
