Apptopia: Trump's social app was downloaded 170,000 times after it was launched in February 2022, but it is still difficult to register

Research firm Apptopia said former U.S. President Donald Trump's "Truth Social" app has been downloaded 170,000 times on Apple's App Store since it went live on Sunday night. Apptopia said high expectations and pre-orders for the app likely contributed to the high number of downloads.

Shortly after its launch, Truth Social topped the list of free apps downloaded on Apple's App Store. However, it is still difficult for users to register an account for Truth Social, and they are constantly prompted with "Error, please try again." Truth Social was developed by Trump's newly established Trump Media and Technology Group, which plans to go public through a merger with special purpose acquisition company Digital World Acquisition. After Truth Social topped the App Store list, Digital World's stock price rose by about 14% on Tuesday.
