OpenSignal: Samsung users in the US download speed 8.2 Mbps faster than iPhone

OpenSignal analyzed 40 countries and regions and found that in 35% of countries, Samsung users experienced faster download speeds than Apple and Huawei users.

In 17.5% of countries, Apple users experienced faster speeds. For the remaining 48% of countries, there was no significant difference between the three largest mobile companies, although Huawei users were the fastest in seven countries overall.

In the United States, Samsung users experienced download speeds 8.2 Mbps faster than iPhone users.

However, the country with the biggest advantage for Samsung users was Norway, where Samsung users were 12 Mbps faster than Huawei and 14 Mbps faster than Apple iPhones.

In the UAE and Taiwan, Apple users have the biggest advantage.

In these countries and regions, iPhone users experienced download speeds 14.7 Mbps faster than Samsung and 8 Mbps faster than Huawei.

Not all smartphones are created equal; they vary in network capabilities as well as cameras and displays.

To analyze the differences, OpenSignal divided smartphones into low, medium, and high categories based on their mobile network capabilities. Because high-end devices contain more network technology, they are more sensitive to mobile network improvements and are actually leading indicators of future mobile network experiences.

The type of smartphone you have can also impact the multiplayer mobile gaming experience.

High-end smartphone users experienced 18% shorter latency, or 11.1ms, than low-end smartphone users, and even 14% shorter latency than mid-range smartphone users.

High-end smartphone download speeds ranged from 70.4 Mbps in South Korea to 6.6 Mbps in Iraq.

Canada and Singapore ranked just behind South Korea, with speeds of 67.1 Mbps and 65.4 Mbps, respectively, in second and third place.

In 25 countries, high-end smartphones had download speeds at least twice as fast as low-end ones.

It is worth noting that the download speed measured by high-end smartphones in Thailand is 4.3 times that of low-end smartphones; Canada and the UAE are 2.9 times; Australia, Singapore and Switzerland are 2.6, 2.5 and 2.5 times respectively.
