National Ear Care Day: Listening to music is fun, but eardrums are a "crematorium"

March 3 is the 23rd National Ear Care Day. In this issue, Dongdongmiao will tell you about the health of your ears. Hum some songs while doing homework, rap to relax while walking, and play some immersive music while playing games...

You feel good about this, but have you ever considered how your eardrum feels?

Listen to music with headphones, the louder the better. Even if there is no music, keep the headphones in your ears - "this is quite unique."

I don’t know whether it’s cool or not, I just want to say that if you continue like this, your ears will probably be ruined.

Wearing headphones to listen to music for a long time, at very loud volumes, will stimulate some nerves in the ear. Not only will this cause cell damage, the sound waves will also resonate, causing adverse stimulation to the inner ear, resulting in irreversible damage and possibly causing neurological deafness.

External sounds are transmitted to the eardrum through the ear canal, and then to the cochlea through the auditory bones, just like the assembly line operation in a factory, external ear canal-eardrum-cochlea-nerve.

If you always wear headphones to listen to stimulating music, the hair cells in your inner ear will have to stand by at all times. It would be strange if they are not exhausted.

85 decibels can cause auditory fatigue, and 110 decibels can cause the death of inner ear hair cells, leading to irreversible damage.

Many people wear headphones all day long. The number of bacteria in headphones after one hour of wearing can reach 700 times the usual level. It’s scary to think about it.

A cochlear implant uses electrodes in the cochlea to stimulate the relevant auditory nerves, allowing the patient to regain hearing.

Cochlear implantation is the process of placing the effector and sensor of the cochlear implant in the skull and the electrode part in the cochlea. In any case, any method that can help deaf patients regain sound is a good method.

Generally, after cochlear implant surgery, attention should be paid to diet, psychological and health education care.

Aging can lead to aging and degeneration of the auditory organs, atrophy and loss of cochlear hair cells and supporting cells, and a decrease, atrophy and deformation of auditory neurons, causing hearing impairment in the elderly.
Therefore, hearing loss or deafness in the elderly is a natural degenerative phenomenon.
Another type of false hearing loss is that many people become selectively deaf when faced with the nagging of elders and leaders.
Selective deafness means being completely immersed in one's own inner world and choosing to delay or ignore responding to the outside world. It can be described as "minding one's own business."
There is also a type of objective deafness called intermittent deafness.
Intermittent hearing loss is also called "sudden deafness". This disease causes a sudden loss of hearing, which can reach its peak or even complete deafness in 1 to 2 days. It usually occurs in one ear and is mostly a sensorineural deafness caused by systemic or local factors.

So how do you protect your ears?

When wearing headphones, the "60-60" principle is an internationally recognized method for protecting hearing.

The World Health Organization recommends that when using headphones, the volume should generally not exceed 60% of the maximum volume; it is also best not to exceed 60 minutes a day.

In a noisy environment, we always turn up the volume unconsciously. If the external noise is loud, it is recommended not to wear headphones, otherwise your ears will "explode".

If you don't take off your earphones when you sleep and your ears are pressed against the pillow, it will damage the auricle and increase the irritation to the eardrum.

When the earphones have a "rustling" sound or only have sound on one side, it is better to throw them away in time, because wearing them for a long time may affect the imbalance of hearing.
