Why are four-leaf clovers so rare?

1. The four-leaf clover is given these meanings because it is very rare. Legend has it that only one four-leaf clover may be found among 100,000 alfalfa plants. The probability is about one in 100,000, so the four-leaf clover is internationally recognized as a symbol of luck.

2. But in fact, it is not so. Each leaf of the four-leaf clover has different meanings, including fame, wealth, love and health. If you have them, you are very lucky.

3. Four-leaf clover is not demanding on soil and can adapt to various soil types. It grows well on slightly acidic soil and prefers warm, sunny and well-drained environmental conditions. It grows slowly under drought conditions and some of it dies in high temperature seasons. It is resistant to pruning and trampling and has strong regeneration ability. It can grow new leaflets within 10 days after pruning and can recover 3-5 days after high-intensity trampling or rolling. It is highly cold-resistant. When the temperature drops to 0℃, some old leaves turn yellow and the leaflets on the taproot stop growing close to the ground but remain green. It is easy to grow too long under strong shade, resulting in poor growth. It has strong resistance to harmful gas pollution and diseases and pests.

How to store and plant four-leaf clover seeds

Storage method: Store at room temperature: put in a plastic bag, a small dry bottle, in a cool, ventilated place. Store at low temperature: put in a sealed bottle and place in the refrigerator, with the temperature controlled between 3 and 5 degrees, in a continuous dry and cold environment.

Planting method:

1. Soil and tillage: The seeds are tiny, the seedlings are slender and have weak ability to break through the soil, and the seedlings grow very slowly. In order to preserve the seedlings, land preparation must be meticulous. Regardless of spring or autumn sowing, the land must be prepared in advance. First, shallowly plow the land to kill the stubble, remove debris, and store water to conserve moisture. After 10 to 15 days, deep plowing and harrowing the land are performed to level the ground, break up the soil into small pieces, and loosen the soil in the sowing layer in preparation for sowing.

2. Fertilization: Combine deep plowing with sufficient base fertilizer, apply 1500 to 2000 kg of organic fertilizer per mu, mix in 15 to 20 kg of superphosphate to promote seedling growth and give full play to production potential.

3. Sowing: If the seeds are sown too deep, it is difficult for the seedlings to emerge. The seeds should be sown appropriately according to the soil texture and dryness and wetness. Sowing period: Spring, summer and autumn are all suitable, but in colder areas, spring and summer are better.

4. Field management: After sowing and before germination, if the soil is compacted, harrow it in time to break up the compacted layer to facilitate germination.
