Why does a child have no antibodies after being vaccinated against hepatitis B? What is the normal value of hepatitis B antibodies in children?

Hepatitis B vaccine is given free of charge to every child when they are born, and will be given regularly thereafter. Generally, when children go to kindergarten, the kindergarten will also give them a physical examination. The physical examination results may show that they have been given hepatitis B vaccine but have no antibodies. Many parents will think that there is something wrong with the vaccine, but in fact it is generally a normal phenomenon, so regular re-examination and vaccination are required.

Why do children have no antibodies after hepatitis B vaccination?

The hepatitis B vaccine does not protect you for life, and because each child has a different constitution and the vaccine dose, the antibody will last for a different period of time. The best way is to screen your baby for hepatitis B antibodies every two to three years, and if there is no antibody, give him another shot.

The dosage of vaccines for newborns is generally small, and the hepatitis B vaccine can only maintain the antibody period of about three years. In addition, the physique of each baby is different, so the antibody existence time is also different. This is normal.

What is the normal value of hepatitis B antibody in children?

There are three most common types of hepatitis B antibodies, namely anti-HBs, anti-HBe and anti-HBc. The antibody tested in kindergarten physical examination is anti-HBs, which is a sign of successful hepatitis B vaccination and immunization. A positive anti-HBs result means that the child will not be infected with hepatitis B virus. Anti-HBs will gradually decrease or disappear over time.

When the hepatitis B antibody in the body is negative or weakly positive, and the titer of hepatitis B surface antibody is less than or equal to 10 international units/ml, the hepatitis B booster vaccine should be administered within six months. If the antibody titer is greater than 10 international units/ml, the hepatitis B vaccine can be revaccinated within 6 years.

Does a child with positive hepatitis B antibody need to be strengthened?

If only the hepatitis B surface antibody is positive and the others are negative, it means that the situation is still OK. Generally, this is the result of the antibodies produced by the hepatitis B vaccine, indicating that there is a certain resistance to the hepatitis B virus. In this case, it is generally necessary to pay attention to regular check-ups. Give your baby a reasonable diet, pay attention to food hygiene, strengthen nutrition, keep warm, and prevent colds. Remember not to blindly use drugs indiscriminately.

China is a country with a high incidence of liver cancer, with more than half of the new cases of liver cancer and deaths from liver cancer occurring in China. On average, one Chinese is diagnosed with liver cancer every 67 seconds, and one dies from liver cancer every 74 seconds.

China's large population base is not the sole reason for this fact. The incidence of liver cancer in China is higher than 0.02%, while the incidence in most parts of Europe and the United States is only 0.005%, which is only one-fourth of that in China.
