Can glass jade be fertilized with nutrient soil? What should be used to fertilize glass jade?

Glass Jade is a perennial evergreen plant. It is called Glass Jade because its main stem is translucent. If Glass Jade is well planted, it can bloom all year round with gorgeous colors. So can Glass Jade be planted with nutrient soil?

Can glass jade be grown with nutrient soil?

Glass Jade likes fertile, well-drained soil. The nutrient soil is fertile, loose and breathable, which can basically meet the growth needs of flowers. Therefore, you can use nutrient soil to plant glass jade. However, you can add some river sand and garden soil to make the pot soil more loose, breathable and fertile. This is more conducive to its growth and flowering.

You can also prepare the nutrient soil yourself by mixing leaf mold, garden soil, decomposed livestock manure, and sawdust in a ratio of 3:2:1:2. Put it in a flowerpot, water it thoroughly, place it in a cool place, cover it with a plastic bag, and ferment it for a week before planting flowers.

When planting, deliberately spread a layer of coarse sand at the bottom, use nutrient soil in the middle, add organic fertilizer or multi-effect fertilizer, and spread a thin layer of river sand on the surface. Coarse sand helps drainage, and the river sand on the surface has good drainage and ventilation, and can also prevent the breeding of small flies.

What to use to fertilize glass jade

Since glass jade is smaller than ordinary flowers and is a small ornamental flower, it requires far less fertilizer than medium and large flower plants.

As the base fertilizer for newly planted glass green flowers, organic fertilizer is generally good. Before potting, take 5 parts of ordinary soil, 2 parts of river sand, 2 parts of black soil rich in humus, and finally 1 part of fermented and decomposed organic fertilizer, mix well and then pot it.

There are two ways to topdress glass plants during their growth or flowering period. Organic fertilizer: 50-100 grams of fermented cake fertilizer such as bean cake, rapeseed cake, peanut cake, or about 300 grams of fermented chicken manure and pure pig manure, apply deep into holes; Inorganic fertilizer: 5-10 grams of urea, 10-20 grams of superphosphate, and 5-10 grams of potassium sulfate, apply deep into holes and add water.

Foliar spray fertilizer, use 2% urea and 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution to spray 1-2 times a month. In the application of topdressing and foliar fertilizer, attention must be paid to the amount of nitrogen fertilizer.

Things to note when growing glass jade in summer

Glass Jade has various colors and is particularly good at blooming. As long as the appropriate growth temperature is maintained, it will bloom all year round. Glass Jade grows fastest between 15℃-30℃. Therefore, in summer, repot it once a week to receive sufficient sunlight to make the plant fuller.

Glass Jade likes moist air and is afraid of dryness. In the summer, the water on the leaves evaporates quickly due to high temperatures. Water it appropriately every day during the growth period and keep the air moist. Spray water on the leaves and wash the branches frequently. At the same time, spray water around to increase humidity and reduce temperature. When the air is dry, the glass jade loses its luster, and the leaves curl up and do not stretch.

Glass Jade likes plenty of sunlight and avoids exposure to the sun. In summer, the sun is strong, so avoid direct sunlight and provide appropriate shade. However, it cannot be without sunlight for a long time or fertilized too much, which will cause the branches to grow too long and affect flowering.
