Can women lose weight by smoking?

The topic of weight loss is something that women can never stop talking about. Many women always feel that their weight is too high, so various weight loss methods are very popular on the Internet and among people. Among them, the saying that girls can lose weight by smoking makes many girls believe it. We all know that smoking is a bad thing, but do you know that girls can lose weight by smoking?

1. Can girls lose weight by smoking?

Regarding the "smoking to lose weight theory" popular among young women, Yuko said, "The tar in cigarettes affects gastrointestinal digestion and absorption, and accelerates metabolism, which can indeed make it easier for people to maintain a lower weight." However, if you think that smoking can reduce fat and become beautiful, then it is completely groundless.

In fact, not only can smoking not help you lose weight, but according to previous statistics from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, "most smokers are more obese." Why is this? Because smoking can make people's taste buds become slower, and light-tasting foods cannot satisfy them, so they will start to eat relatively sweet and salty foods, consume too much calories, and easily make people gain weight.

2. The harm of smoking to women

2.1. Causes aging

The tar in tobacco can stimulate the capillaries to contract, resulting in insufficient blood supply and oxygen to the skin, affecting normal metabolism and accelerating aging. The skin of women who smoke is usually drier, rougher, less elastic, more wrinkled, duller in color, and more haggard, which often makes them look much older than their actual age. The skin of women who smoke appears more deteriorated, wrinkled, and gray in color than that of non-smokers. In particular, the wrinkles on the inner corners of the eyes, lips and mouth corners increase significantly.

2.2 Menstrual disorders and dysmenorrhea

The tar in cigarettes can reduce the secretion of estrogen in women, thereby affecting the physiological processes related to menstruation, causing delayed menarche, irregular menstruation, early onset of menopause, amenorrhea or scanty menstruation, and even affecting pregnancy in severe cases. In addition, compared with non-smokers, women who smoke 10 to 30 cigarettes a day have twice the risk of suffering from dysmenorrhea.

2.3. The rate of malformation in babies born by pregnant women has increased significantly

The malformation rate of babies born to smoking women is 2-3 times that of non-smoking women, among which 73% suffer from congenital heart disease, and the risk of sepsis is twice as high. In addition, the incidence of diseases such as anencephaly and dementia has also increased significantly.
