What does car emission t mean? Is it better to buy a t or l car?

What does car emission t mean? Is it better to buy a t or l car?

When buying a car, some cars may be marked with 1.8T, 1.8L, etc. The T and L here represent the way the engine intakes air. Many people use this parameter to look at the displacement of the car. So what do T and L specifically mean?

What does automobile emissions mean?

T stands for Turbo, which means that the vehicle engine uses turbocharging to intake air. Turbocharged engines can increase engine power, save fuel, and reduce emissions, and are being adopted by more and more car models.

The working principle of turbocharging is: part of the exhaust gas discharged by the vehicle enters the turbocharger, driving the turbine to rotate, driving the impeller at the other end to rotate at high speed, pressing fresh air into the combustion chamber, increasing the compression ratio of oil and gas, and increasing the power of the vehicle.

Since the exhaust temperature of the engine is high and the rotation speed of the turbine is very fast, the engine oil is needed to cool and lubricate the turbocharger. Therefore, the engine oil consumption of the turbocharged engine is relatively higher than that of the naturally aspirated vehicle.

For vehicles without turbocharged engines, L is generally used to represent the volume, such as 1.8L, 3.0L. The larger the number before L, the larger the displacement of the vehicle, and relatively speaking, the better the power performance.

Is it better to buy a T or L car?

Mainstream family cars prefer naturally aspirated (L) engines, while the SUV market prefers turbocharged engines.

The advantage of T (turbocharged) is small displacement and high power, while the advantage of L (naturally aspirated) is century-old technology accumulation, stability, smooth idling, and durability.

We cannot directly say which one is better or worse, they just face different consumer demands. For home automatic transmission, 1.5L, 1.5T and above are a dividing line. If you want power, you need to increase the displacement. 1.5L and 1.5T are relatively suitable home power.

If you are looking for power, consider buying T. After all, the turbine of the same displacement is more powerful. Although the turbine has a speed limit, the current turbine can handle the high torque speed range of more than 90% of road conditions. Therefore, the power performance of the turbine is definitely higher than that of the naturally aspirated engine of the same displacement, and the fuel consumption is not much higher. Moreover, under the global trend of energy conservation and emission reduction, the turbine is imperative. However, there is no need to worry about whether the turbine is more unstable than the naturally aspirated engine. The quality and stability of the turbocharger are definitely guaranteed.

Whether to buy T or L depends on the usage. If you drive more in the city, it is better to use the naturally aspirated engine. The turbocharger has little effect and may consume more fuel with the same displacement. If you often carry more people or drive on mountain roads, it is recommended to consider T, which has the advantage of power. Considering the later maintenance and durability, it is better to consider L. After all, the high performance of the turbocharger may cause the reliability to decay faster than the naturally aspirated engine, and the maintenance and after-sales cost is high.

Turbocharged engine

The principle of turbocharging: A turbocharger is actually an air compressor that increases the intake volume by compressing air, thereby achieving the purpose of increasing power.

Advantages of turbocharging: It makes the car more powerful, and the maximum power output of the vehicle can be increased by 40% or even more. In addition, after the engine adopts turbocharging technology, it can improve fuel economy and reduce exhaust emissions. To put it bluntly, it is powerful and fuel-efficient.

Disadvantages of turbocharged engines: Turbocharged engines are not as good as naturally aspirated engines in terms of service life and technical maturity. However, this is also relatively inferior to naturally aspirated engines.
