Why does the automatic transmission accelerate slowly? What are the tips for accelerating an automatic transmission car?

Most cars nowadays are automatic transmission, which can intelligently downshift or upshift, saving the driver the time of manual control. Sometimes you may find that the automatic transmission accelerates slowly, and it does not move when you want to upshift. What should you do in this situation?

Why is the automatic transmission slow to accelerate?

It's not that the automatic transmission is slow to accelerate, it's probably related to the type of vehicle and the power. Different brands of cars have different engines and gearboxes, and the tuning is also different. Even different models of the same brand have different price considerations.

Automatic transmission cars generally have their own shifting logic to replace the manual shifting process. Some of this shifting logic is relatively intelligent and can basically understand what the driver wants through the operation of the accelerator pedal and then upshift or downshift.

Generally, automatic transmissions have SPORT and ECO modes, i.e., sports mode and fuel-saving mode. The sports mode focuses on control and power output. In this mode, the car has relatively strong power and accelerates much faster. Of course, fuel consumption will definitely be high. In fuel-saving mode, fuel consumption is considered first, and fuel economy is the focus, so the response efficiency of power output will be sacrificed, and the acceleration will of course be slow.

What are the tips for accelerating an automatic car?

1. Manual intervention shifting

Some cars have paddle shifters, which can be used to manually shift downshifts. This will force the gearbox to downshift, and when two or three gears are downshifted in succession, the power of the car will basically be out. There is also a manual-automatic transmission, which can be operated by manually moving the shift lever to the manual gear side, and then moving the gear lever to the downshift side. The gear can also be manually intervened to downshift. This operation can reduce the gear and accelerate faster.

2. Release your foot and then step on the accelerator

If the car has neither paddle shifters nor manual transmission, you can only put pressure on the gearbox and press the accelerator deeper. If it still does not downshift, release the accelerator and press it again. Generally, after this process, no matter how stupid the gearbox is, it knows what the driver's intention is, and will automatically control the program to downshift, thereby achieving the effect of increasing power.

Why don't taxis have automatic transmission?

1. Manual transmission saves fuel.

Automatic transmission has a relatively high fuel consumption, which is 1 liter/100 kilometers higher than manual transmission. Taxis are on the road every day, running 200 to 300 kilometers a day, which means that they will spend more than 10 to 20 yuan on fuel.

2. Low maintenance costs.

Some taxis have to change their transmission oil every tens of thousands of kilometers. Manual transmissions are not so demanding on gear oil, and their operating temperature is far lower than that of engine oil. Even when the oil is changed after running for tens of thousands of kilometers, the transmission oil released is still very clear and will not turn black like the engine oil.

3. Replacement of vehicle parts is cheap.

If a manual transmission has a problem and is damaged, taxi drivers generally do not choose to repair it, but to replace it directly and buy dismantled car parts at the scrapyard. Since the number of taxis in use is very large, dismantled car parts are very cheap. Taking Jetta as an example, the dismantled car parts of the manual transmission assembly do not exceed 500 yuan, and they are guaranteed to be in good condition.
