How long can a pregnant woman eat pig's feet and ginger? Under what circumstances can a pregnant woman not eat pig's feet and ginger?

We all know that pig's feet ginger is a common traditional food and a popular nourishing food. It can play a very good role and has certain benefits for the body when eaten in moderation. Many postpartum mothers will eat pig's feet ginger. So how long can a postpartum mother eat pig's feet ginger? Let's take a closer look!

When can pregnant women eat pig's feet and ginger?

In the past, Guangdong women traditionally started eating this pork trotter with ginger right after giving birth. But now doctors generally recommend waiting until the lochia is gone before eating it. Because this dish contains a lot of ginger, ginger can really make the body warm and speed up blood circulation. This result may cause more lochia and continuous bleeding.

Pig's trotter with ginger is a must-have food for Guangdong women after childbirth. Pig's trotter with ginger is sour, sweet and spicy, and it stimulates appetite and helps digestion. It is traditionally believed that it has the effect of dispelling wind and cold, replenishing blood and calcium.

There are several situations in which pregnant women cannot eat pig's feet and ginger

1. If the baby has jaundice or eczema, the mother should eat it with caution to avoid aggravating the baby's symptoms.

2. Mothers with hemorrhoids should not eat ginger, as the spicy ginger will stimulate hemorrhoid attacks and cause extreme pain.

3. Do not eat during postpartum mastitis to prevent further aggravation of inflammation.

Pig's feet and ginger are not just a kind of food for Cantonese people, but also a symbol. They represent the joy of having a new baby and the expectation of the prosperity of the family. When a family has a new baby, the elders will use a clay pot to cook a lot of pig's feet and ginger and give them to relatives and friends, and receive everyone's blessing of "good grandson" (good sour).

How to cook pig's feet with ginger

Materials Needed:

1. The most special ingredient in pork trotter ginger is sweet vinegar. The brands of sweet vinegar include Zhimeizhai, Haitian, Bazhen, Zhujiangqiao, etc. Locals like to use Hong Kong brand Bazhen sweet vinegar, which they think is more authentic, but it is very expensive! I specially looked at the recipes of several brands, which are basically the same, the difference is that the sweetness and sourness are slightly different.

2. Pig's trotters. Generally, the front trotters are used as they have more meat. Some people also like the hind trotters as they have more rubber and are more elastic.

3. Use local yellow ginger, which has thick flesh, fresh fragrance and no old whiskers.

4. Fresh eggs, rock sugar or brown sugar.

Specific steps:

1. Prepare the ingredients: a large clay pot, 2 pounds of pig's trotters, 1 pound of local turmeric, 1000 ml of sweet vinegar, 10 eggs, and about 200 grams of sugar.

2. Scrape the skin of the turmeric, rinse it, crush it or slice it, and stir-fry it in a frying pan without oil until the water content is relatively low and it is slightly dry.

3. Wash the pig's trotters, put them in cold water together with the eggs, boil them for 15 minutes, pick them up and rinse them, drain the water from the pig's trotters (you can also stir-fry them dry like you did with ginger), and peel the eggs.

4. First put the turmeric into the pot, then put the pig's trotters, eggs, and finally pour the sweet vinegar into the pot. All the ingredients can only be put into the pot to 80% full, because the sweet vinegar is thick and will spill out if you are not careful.

5. Bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer for 1 hour on the lowest heat. Test the taste. If you like it sweeter, add some sugar. If you are not eating it right away, you should scoop out the pig's trotters, divide them into small portions and put them in the refrigerator. Next time you eat them, put them in a clay pot and heat them up.

Precautions for pregnant women to eat pig's feet and ginger

The amount of ginger in the pig's feet is relatively large. If you can't finish it, just boil it and let it cool. Boil it before eating each time, and stir it when boiling to prevent it from sticking to the bottom. The longer the soaking time, the better the taste of the eggs and ginger.

Only sweet vinegar can be added to the pork trotter and ginger, and no water can be added! If water is added, it will easily go bad. Vinegar itself has a preservative effect. The pork trotter and ginger will not go bad after being cooked. Boil it every other day in summer and every three days in winter. When the ingredients are finished, you can add them back and cook again without changing the sweet vinegar.
