Do people returning from abroad need to be quarantined? How do people returning from abroad need to be quarantined?

We all know that the new coronavirus is a relatively powerful respiratory infection virus. It can be transmitted through contact, droplets, etc. It is highly contagious and everyone is susceptible to infection. In order to avoid infection and prevent the spread of the virus, many people need to be quarantined at home. So do you need to be quarantined when you return from abroad? Let's take a closer look below!

Do people returning from abroad need to be quarantined?

Isolation and observation are generally required.

Recently, cases of COVID-19 infection have appeared in many countries and regions, and the number continues to rise. In view of the current overseas epidemic prevention and control situation, combined with the domestic reality, the Municipal Prevention and Control Leading Group and relevant departments have made comprehensive assessments and further clarified the foreign-related epidemic prevention and control and health management measures for inbound personnel.

All Chinese and foreign personnel who have traveled to key countries or regions within 14 days before entering the country will be subject to home or centralized quarantine health observation, that is, they will be isolated for 14 days.

We reiterate that we will treat all inbound personnel equally, strictly manage entry, landing and venues. We also thank all sectors of society and Chinese and foreign people for their active support and sincere understanding.

How to quarantine people returning from abroad?

Generally, they need to be quarantined at home for 14 days. Now there are specific regulations for people returning from abroad in various places. Today we mainly introduce several hot provinces and cities:

Guangdong Province

According to the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission, in response to the spread of the new coronavirus epidemic overseas, Guangdong is comprehensively strengthening entry health management. People who come from or have been to severely affected areas in the country of departure are required to undergo 14 days of home or centralized medical observation after entering Guangdong.

Shanghai

Zheng Jin, spokesperson for the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, responded that foreigners are the same as Chinese people. Only people from key areas who come to Shanghai are subject to quarantine and observation. Other areas are the same. During the epidemic prevention and control period, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau continued to provide visa extension and document processing services for foreigners to ensure their legal stay and residence. For foreigners who are in urgent need of entry and meet the conditions, port visa processing will be facilitated, and foreigners in Shanghai with urgent needs will also be expedited to process residence permits.

Beijing

Now Beijing requires people returning to Beijing to stay at home or in a centralized place for 14 days after arriving in Beijing. So does this include foreigners returning from abroad? In response, He Qinghua, head of the National Health Commission's Disease Control Bureau, said: Beijing has issued a policy requiring all people returning to Beijing to stay at home for 14 days due to prevention and control needs. Where they returned to Beijing cannot be used as a criterion because the route is unclear.

Tips:

Since the epidemic abroad has not been brought under control yet, in order to prevent people returning from abroad from bringing the virus back to the country and causing infection, it is completely understandable that people returning from abroad need to be quarantined for 14 days. In the current epidemic situation, no one can underestimate the severity of the epidemic. For everyone's safety, no matter which country you return from, you must be quarantined and observed in accordance with relevant regulations.

What should I pay attention to during home quarantine?

1. Place close contacts in a well-ventilated separate room. If there is no separate room, keep a distance of at least 1 meter from close contacts and limit their range of activities.

2. Ensure good indoor ventilation, either natural or mechanical. When opening windows for ventilation in winter, be aware of the large temperature difference between indoor and outdoor, which may cause colds.

3. When you are isolated at home, you must remember to wash your hands frequently, especially when there are other family members at home. This is because there are more bacteria on your hands. Furniture and supplies at home must be disinfected in time after touching them.

4. You must wear a mask when you are quarantined at home, because the virus is mainly transmitted through droplets, and wearing a mask can prevent the spread of the virus to a certain extent.

5. During home quarantine, you must pay attention to frequent disinfection. Disinfection means using some disinfectant or disinfectant to disinfect wardrobes, tables, chairs, bedside tables, etc.

Why do we need to be quarantined at home for 14 days?

1. Control the source of infection

Home isolation is the most effective way to control the source of infection. Controlling the source of infection means keeping the source of infection within the epidemic range and preventing it from spreading to other areas. The source of infection includes patients with infectious diseases, people who have no clinical symptoms but carry pathogens, and infected animals.

2. Cut off the transmission route

The transmission route refers to the process of pathogens spreading from the source of infection to susceptible people. Cutting off the transmission route requires taking certain measures to block the process of pathogens transferring from the source of infection to susceptible hosts, so as to prevent the occurrence of the disease.

3. Protect vulnerable groups

If suspected patients or people carrying pathogens come into contact with susceptible people, they may transmit the virus to them, so home isolation is also a form of protection for susceptible people.
