When talking about rabbits, people will think of little white rabbits. In fact, there are many kinds of rabbits. According to different uses, there are also differences between edible rabbits and pet rabbits. So what kinds of pet rabbits are there?

What types of pet rabbits are there?

There are many kinds of pet rabbits that can be raised. As for domestic rabbits, meat rabbits, New Zealand rabbits, etc. are generally raised, mainly economic rabbits.

There are many different varieties of pet rabbits, such as Holland Lop Rabbit, Dodger Lop Rabbit, Longhair Lop Rabbit, Holland Dwarf Rabbit, Lion Rabbit, Cat Rabbit, Teacup Rabbit and Giant Angora Rabbit. Among them, the Lop Rabbit and the Giant Angora Rabbit have longer hair, so they can be groomed and have beautiful hairstyles.

Rabbits come in different sizes, and it mainly depends on what their owner likes.

How to keep a rabbit as a pet

1. Keep the breeding environment clean and sanitary, and try to keep it dry. A humid environment will bring many hidden dangers, such as rabbit fungal disease. This disease is very stubborn and will cause rabbits to lose hair. It is a zoonosis and can be transmitted to humans.

2. The crude fiber content of the food fed every day should be high, which is determined by the special body structure of rabbits. For ordinary family breeding, it is recommended to feed special rabbit feed or rice mixed with rice bran as the staple food, and then feed some clean leaves and fresh grass as supplements.

3. Supply an unlimited amount of clean water every day. Some places say that rabbits cannot drink water. Here we would like to correct this wrong view. Rabbits can not only drink water, but also drink a considerable amount of water every day. If the water supply is insufficient, it will affect the normal operation of the rabbit's digestive system.

4. The feed must not be moldy, the water must be clean, and the water bowl and food box must be cleaned regularly to keep them clean, otherwise it will easily cause diarrhea in rabbits.

5. Rabbits are very timid. Do not scare them at will, as this will cause them to have a stress response. In mild cases, this may cause them to become sick or have a loss of appetite. In severe cases, this may even cause sudden death.

6. The most suitable living temperature for rabbits is 0-25℃, so keep warm in winter and protect against the sun in summer. Exercise regularly and get plenty of sun.

7. If you raise a small number of rabbits at home, you can inject ivermectin every spring and autumn to eliminate parasites. Pay attention to reducing contact with other rabbits outside to avoid bringing back pathogens from outside and causing your rabbits to become sick.

What should you pay attention to when raising rabbits?

First of all, be careful not to feed your rabbit with food with high water content, such as cabbage stalks, watermelon, white radish, etc. Rabbits are prone to diarrhea if they eat such food with too high water content, which may even cause dehydration and be life-threatening.

Second, do not feed your rabbit too much fresh vegetables or grass, especially those with water droplets on them. Excessive consumption of these foods may also cause diarrhea in rabbits. It is best to feed your rabbit dehydrated vegetables or fruits.

Third, do not scare the rabbit, and provide it with plenty of drinking water and a quiet environment to prevent the rabbit from being injured or even dying due to stress.
