Is it easy for chrysanthemums to survive? How to grow chrysanthemums to make them more vigorous

Chrysanthemum is very common in life. Because of its high nutritional value and the effect of clearing away heat and removing internal heat, many families will plant some in their courtyards. So is chrysanthemum easy to survive? How to grow chrysanthemum to make it more vigorous? The following editor will explain them one by one, hoping to help you.

Is chrysanthemum easy to grow?

Chrysanthemum likes warm and humid conditions, and grows well in loose, well-drained soil rich in humus. It has a certain degree of drought resistance, but is not tolerant to waterlogging. When there is too much water in the soil, the leaves tend to turn yellow. It can grow in almost any soil. It needs to be exposed to enough light during the growing season. Planting it in a too secluded place often results in leggy growth.

How to grow chrysanthemums to make them more vigorous

1. Environment

Chrysanthemum likes a warm, humid and sunny environment and needs to be cool in summer. There are many varieties of chrysanthemum, some of which prefer semi-shade. The roots are cold-resistant and drought-resistant, but they are afraid of waterlogging and avoid shade.

2. Temperature

The best growth temperature for chrysanthemum is 18-21 degrees, the highest is 32 degrees in hot weather, and the lowest is 10 degrees in winter (the roots can tolerate -10 degrees). The flowering period is 13-17 degrees, and the flowers can withstand slight frost.

3. Soil

Chrysanthemums are highly adaptable and prefer sandy loam that is rich in humus, fertile and well-drained. They can be planted in pots or in the ground. For ground planting, choose a high and sunny location. For potting, use leaf mold, garden soil, river sand, etc. Choose a flower pot of suitable size and good drainage.

4. Cultivation

When cultivating chrysanthemums, apply enough base fertilizer, put small stones at the bottom of the pot, then put nutrient soil and plant the chrysanthemum seedlings in, and slightly press the root soil. After watering thoroughly, put it in a cool place, and move it to a sunny place after the plant grows and survives normally.

5. Watering

Water the chrysanthemums a little when they are in the seedling stage. When the plants grow to 10 cm in height, pinch the tops to promote the growth of side branches. Keep the soil moist during the growing period. Water them in the morning and evening in the hot summer. Spray water during the day to cool down and increase the humidity of the environment. Gradually reduce watering and fertilization in autumn, and control water when the plants are dormant in winter.

6. Fertilization

Apply organic freshwater fertilizer once a month during the chrysanthemum growing season, and apply phosphorus and potassium freshwater during the autumn flowering season to promote more large and beautiful flowers and a longer flowering period. No fertilizer is required in winter!

7. Pruning

After the first pinching of the chrysanthemum, the branches that emerge can be pinched again to promote more branches. Finally, the plant should be pruned to shape it, and too many strong branches and weak branches should be cut off. When the chrysanthemum buds appear, the buds at the bottom of the plant should also be removed, leaving only one bud at the top of each branch, so that the flowers are large and gorgeous!

Precautions for growing chrysanthemums

1. Chrysanthemums are prone to waterlogging and root rot, so the holes in the flowerpot should be large. If the holes are not big enough, find a way to make them bigger.

2. You can use leaf mold to pot the plants. Don't fill the pot with soil. Leave 1/3-23. After the beginning of autumn, add nutrient soil to 2-3 cm away from the pot mouth. This will also avoid water accumulation.
