How to keep peanuts from going bad? Tips for preserving peanuts

We all know that peanuts are a common food. They are prepared in a variety of ways, taste crispy and delicious, and have high nutritional value. Eating them in moderation can supplement the nutrients needed by the human body and have certain benefits for the body. Many people eat peanuts frequently. So how can we preserve peanuts so that they will not go bad? Let's take a closer look!

How to store peanuts for a long time

1. Store in sealed containers

Sealing the dried peanuts you bought in a plastic bottle can effectively prevent insects.

2. Dry and store

Dry the peanuts thoroughly and reduce the moisture content to below 8%. According to testing, the moisture content of peanuts is less than 8%, which is safe for storage! When the moisture content of peanuts is higher than 10%, the respiration is enhanced, releasing a lot of heat energy, which can easily cause the peanuts to mold and deteriorate.

3. Store in a refrigerator

When refrigerating, the temperature should be controlled between 4 and 10 degrees. In theory, the oil in the peanuts is solid at this temperature, and the metabolism of the peanuts is extremely slow, so the acid value hardly increases. However, if the temperature is lower than 0 degrees, frost damage may occur, affecting the taste.

4. Store after heating in microwave oven

Put the damp peanuts in the microwave for 1-2 minutes before storing. Don't microwave them for too long or they will become mushy.

Different storage methods of peanuts

Peanuts in shell

Peanuts just harvested from the field have a lot of moisture and must not be piled together. If they are piled together for more than 12 hours, they will become moldy. Therefore, the peanuts just harvested must be spread out in the sun to dry in time. They must be put away in time after the sun sets in the evening to avoid moisture at night. Dry them for 5-7 days, and put them in woven bags after they are completely dried and store them in a dry and cool place. (Key point: dry them in the sun, and avoid moisture)

Raw peanuts

Peanuts are dried in shells, and the shells are peeled off. Without the protection of the shells, peanuts are more susceptible to moisture and mold, so we need to store them in sealed glass jars, plastic bottles, or plastic bags. (Key point: peanuts must be dried, and the container must be airtight and not damp)

Fried peanuts

Fried peanuts can be stored properly to ensure a crispy and fragrant taste. First, let the fried peanuts cool down and make sure they are crispy. Then add a certain amount of edible salt and mix well. Then put them in a sealed glass jar for storage. Put the glass jar in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight. Fried peanuts stored in this way can be guaranteed to taste as crispy and fragrant as freshly fried peanuts two months later.

How to store peanuts

1. On a sunny day, pick the peanuts you bought and expose them to the sun. After they are dry, immediately put them into a sealed container. This way the peanuts can be preserved from moisture.

2. Refrigerate. After blasting and drying the peanuts, put them in a sealed container and then put them in the refrigerator. Never put them in the freezer, because after the peanuts are frozen, the internal structure will change, which will seriously affect the taste.

3. Spread out the peanuts after picking out the debris and dry them in the sun, put them into a plastic bag to remove the air. At the same time, add some chopped dried chilies, seal it, and place it in a dry, low-temperature, dark place.

This method can make insects stay away from peanuts by smelling the spicy taste, so that the peanuts can be preserved for a long time without changing taste and getting infested by insects.
