How to check the cervix dilation

How to check the cervix dilation

To check how many fingers the cervix is dilated, you need to go to the hospital for examination. Only professional medical staff can conduct examinations to determine the actual situation. Check how many fingers the cervix is dilated, and you can also do a vaginal and anal examination. Before starting the examination, the doctor puts on sterile gloves, inserts his fingers into the vagina or anus, and uses the natural stretching of his fingers to determine how dilated the cervix is. During labor, regardless of whether the cervix is dilated or not, frequent vaginal examinations can easily lead to iatrogenic infection, which is usually diagnosed through the duodenum at the anus.

Before and after delivery, the cervical opening will dilate by two centimeters, which means it will dilate by two fingers. Because the dilation of the cervix is difficult to measure accurately, finger measurement is commonly used in clinical medicine to judge the progress of labor. The main sign before labor is the periodic uterine contractions accompanied by the dilation of the cervix and the lowering of the presenting part. When the cervix dilates two centimeters, it is usually said that the cervix is dilated two fingers, indicating that it has entered the first stage of labor. When the cervix dilates 10 centimeters, it is called full cervical dilation, and it will enter the second stage of labor. The doctor will prepare to deliver the baby.

When the cervix is dilated to 2cm, it is equivalent to two fingers. This dilation of the cervix is still in the dangerous period and is the beginning of the delivery process. From the time the cervix is dilated to 3 cm, it is in the danger period. At this time, uterine contractions are generally not very strong, and the interval time is about 3-4 minutes. Most pregnant women can tolerate uterine contractions. Later, with the strengthening of uterine contractions and the gradual improvement of cervical conditions, the cervical opening will become larger.

After the cervix is dilated to 2cm, the delivery process has begun. Pregnant women should maintain a good attitude and conserve their energy and labor power, pay attention to rest, do not scream at this stage, and rest as much as possible. After the cervix is dilated to 2-3cm, labor analgesia can be used to relieve pain.
