Will the embryo abort if it doesn't develop properly?

Once an ectopic pregnancy is confirmed, conservative treatment can be used first if there is no rupture. Conservative treatment involves inpatient treatment at a hospital and injections, usually methotrexate, to kill test tube embryos. If conservative treatment fails, or the ectopic pregnancy has already ruptured, surgery is the only option. Next, let’s discuss whether the embryo will abort on its own if the development process is not good?

If the embryonic development process is not good, most of the time a miscarriage will occur, and a small number of test tube embryos will survive and give rise to deformed babies. The main reason for the poor embryo development process is the abnormality of the test tube embryo itself, such as chromosomal abnormality. Some of the reasons also come from maternal factors. For example, if the pregnant mother has endocrine abnormalities, low or hyperthyroid thyroid hormone, or hyperprolactinuria, the test tube embryo may be incompletely developed. If the pregnant mother has coagulation disorders or pre-venous thrombosis, it may also cause incomplete development of the test tube embryo. If the pregnant mother has a malformation in her uterus, such as a bicornuate uterus, a unicornuate uterus, or a uterine septate, it may also cause the embryo to develop poorly and lead to spontaneous abortion.

If the test tube embryo is incompletely developed, it will not necessarily fall out by itself. If the test tube embryo dies due to incomplete development, it may sometimes cause spontaneous abortion, and it may fall out naturally in a short period of time. However, some embryos develop abnormally, which may lead to missed abortion. This type of abortion remains in the uterine cavity for a long time. Therefore, once it is confirmed that the test tube embryo is underdeveloped, a curettage operation must be performed immediately.

If the test tube embryo dies in the uterine cavity for a long time, it may cause infection of the uterine cavity. If a uterine curettage is required, it may cause uterine adhesions and damage to the uterine wall, which will have a greater impact on subsequent pregnancies.
