What causes a woman's left foot to swell?

If the left leg simply swells, it is necessary to check whether there is recent trauma. If there is trauma, it is necessary to check whether there are any abnormalities in the skin temperature of both sides and the distal aortic heart beat. If the skin temperature difference between the two sides is very large, for example, the skin temperature in the swollen area of the left foot decreases and the aortic pulse becomes weaker, it may be a disease of the lower limb arteries.

If intermittent claudication occurs during normal walking, that is, swelling and pain in the feet occur after walking for a period of time, it is also considered to be blockage or severe stenosis of the lower limb arteries. In addition, there is also a condition called lower limb venous disease, which is the swelling of the left foot caused by poor blood flow back into the lower limbs. In these conditions, it is recommended to perform ultrasound examination of the arteries and veins of the lower limbs. Some less common conditions may be refractory lower limb edema in women. If there is no obvious cause after a thorough examination, regular observation is required.

Swelling of the feet on both sides is usually common in patients with heart failure, severe liver disease, cirrhosis, or kidney failure. If the left leg is swollen, it may be caused by:

1. Partial skin and soft tissue infection, such as erysipelas. Part of the skin may become red and itchy, feel hot and painful to the touch, and a routine blood test may show an increase in the white blood cell count.

2. Partial varicose veins. If you have varicose veins in the left lower limb, you can see the enlarged veins winding on the surface of the skin of the left lower limb.

3. Lower limb venous thrombosis, especially deep vein thrombosis. At this time, you can do a vascular ultrasound examination of the lower limb veins to determine whether there is venous thrombosis.

The common clinical causes of swelling in the left foot are as follows: 1. Sprained left foot will cause damage to some soft tissues, and severe symptoms may affect all normal activities of the patient. At this time, the patient should rest in bed sufficiently, apply cold compress to the swollen area for 24 hours to reduce tissue extravasation, and apply local hot packs and external application of traumatic injury oil after 24 hours to promote the disappearance of inflammation and absorption of swelling.

2. Deep vein thrombosis in the lower limbs can lead to blood flow obstruction in the lower limbs. Excessive blood accumulates in the ankles and insteps, causing swelling of the body. At this time, the patient may not have obvious tenderness and pain. Low molecular weight heparin can be injected subcutaneously, dextran and other drugs can be used intravenously to improve blood circulation, and rivaroxaban can be taken orally to promote the dissolution of blood vein thrombosis to relieve the symptoms of foot swelling.
