What should I pay attention to when doing non-invasive DNA

What should be paid attention to before doing minimally invasive DNA testing? Regarding this issue, relevant personnel said that under normal circumstances, several things need to be paid attention to, which will be of great help to the baby's happy growth. However, minimally invasive DNA testing only requires collecting venous blood from the pregnant mother. So, what should we pay attention to when doing non-invasive DNA?

What should I pay attention to before doing minimally invasive DNA

1. Minimally invasive DNA testing does not require fasting: Minimally invasive DNA testing requires extracting blood from the pregnant mother. Most people, when they hear that they need to have a blood test, may think of fasting first. On the other hand, you don't need to fast when doing minimally invasive DNA testing. Expectant mothers just need to ensure a normal diet.

2. Pay attention to the testing time: Minimally invasive DNA prenatal testing can be carried out at 12 weeks of pregnancy. 12 to 26 weeks of pregnancy is the entire time range for minimally invasive DNA prenatal testing. If pregnant mothers want to do this test, they must do it within this time range, so as not to affect the test results and improve the accuracy of the test.

3. Minimally invasive DNA testing is not equivalent to Down syndrome screening: Down syndrome screening is only one of the items in minimally invasive DNA testing. In other words, minimally invasive DNA testing covers a wider range, including testing for sex chromosome diseases such as Down syndrome, Maria syndrome, and Patau syndrome. Therefore, when expectant mothers are undergoing minimally invasive DNA testing, they must insist on completing all the test items to ensure the health of the fetus in all aspects.

4. Go to the hospital for examination as much as possible: Minimally invasive DNA gene testing technology began to enter clinical medicine in 2010. It mainly relies on the fetal cells to penetrate into the mother's blood through the embryo and be destroyed by the pregnant mother's immune system, and the fetal DNA will remain. The accuracy of its test results reaches 99.70%, and such high-end technology is only available in general hospitals.

Minimally invasive DNA testing

Fetal minimally invasive DNA testing only requires collecting venous blood from the pregnant mother, obtaining fetal mineral DNA from it, and using high-throughput sequencing technology and bioinformatics analysis methods to determine whether the fetus is likely to have a sex chromosome disease. However, it is a relatively new technology, experts are still divided on the accuracy of this non-destructive testing technology, and it cannot replace prenatal testing. The vast majority of hospital outpatient clinics do not have the qualifications to perform this test. Therefore, you need to discuss it in detail and think carefully with your doctor.

If sex chromosome 21 is at high risk, it is recommended to do a minimally invasive DNA test. The results of minimally invasive surgery cannot be used as a standard for induced abortion. If the risk is still high, amniocentesis is the only option.
