Why is my period suddenly heavy?

Why is my period suddenly heavy?

The normal menstrual cycle and menstrual volume for women should be: 28-35 days for a cycle, and the volume is about 20-8b250l. If the menstrual flow exceeds 8b250l, it is excessive and the cause should be found out and medical treatment should be sought in time. What should you do if you encounter heavy menstrual flow?

1. Find out the cause

Common reasons for sudden heavy menstrual flow include:

Blood pressure uterine fibroids: uterine cervical fibroids, intramural fibroids or cervical fibroids can cause increased menstrual volume and prolonged menstruation. B-ultrasound can clearly determine the location, size and type of uterine fibroids.

Dysfunctional uterine bleeding during puberty or menopause: Due to the incomplete development or dysfunction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, ovarian imbalance and uterine bleeding occur, which can be diagnosed based on age characteristics and female hormone measurements. It is a clear diagnosis.

Supplementary information about wearing an IUD: Wearing an IUD may cause symptoms such as increased menstrual period and prolonged spotting in the early stage, but these symptoms will generally improve in the later stage. If the ring is positioned too low, it may also cause heavy periods. B-ultrasound can determine whether the position of the ring is normal.

Weight-bearing uterine intrauterine polyps or cervical polyps: Uterine intrauterine polyps can be diagnosed through B-ultrasound, and cervical polyps can be diagnosed through gynecological examination.

Other factors during pregnancy: such as excessive stress, staying up late, trauma, changes in the natural environment, etc., can also cause endocrine imbalance-type menorrhagia.

2. Treatment of the cause

For heavy menstruation caused by uterine fibroids, myomectomy or hysterectomy can be performed.

For functional uterine bleeding, medication can be used to treat it, and artificial cycles can be used to adjust the menstrual volume.

In addition, for excessive menstruation caused by the ring not fitting well or the ring sinking, the IUD can be removed. Re-insert or use another contraceptive method.

Weight-bearing can be used to perform polypectomy for uterine intrauterine polyps or cervical polyps.

To sum up, if you have heavy menstruation, you should find out the cause and treat it accordingly.
