How can pregnant women tell if they are about to give birth?

Generally speaking, during the first prenatal check-up, the doctor will help pregnant women calculate their due date based on the time of their last menstrual period. However, the due date is only an estimated time after all, and it is not completely accurate. You know, many babies are born without a due date.

So for pregnant women, how do they know whether they are about to give birth? The obstetrician and gynecologist tells you that you must remember these 3 data signals of labor in pregnant women!

1. Irregular uterine contractions

Before the start of labor, the pregnant woman's body will experience irregular uterine contractions due to the increased sensitivity of the uterine muscle layer.

If the pregnant mother has the following feelings, it means that she is about to give birth.

1. The frequency of uterine contractions is inconsistent, the duration is short, the intermittent time is long and irregular, and the feeling of uterine contraction does not gradually increase;

2. Uterine contractions often occur at night and subside in the morning;

3. No symptoms such as cervical shortening and cervical dilation.

2. Fetal baby's feeling of lowering

When delivery is imminent, because the presenting part is lowered and the uterine fundus is reduced due to the engagement of the diaphragm, pregnant women will feel more comfortable in the front part of the upper abdomen. Also, because the lowered presenting part presses the bladder, they may experience frequent and urgent urination.

3. Spotting during pregnancy

Spotting during pregnancy is one of the more obvious signals that a pregnant woman is about to give birth.

Generally speaking, 24 to 48 hours before the start of labor, the fetal membrane around the cervical opening separates from the endometrium at that point, and the capillaries rupture and cause bleeding, which mixes with the mucus in the cervical canal and is discharged as light strong mucus, commonly known as pregnancy spotting.

However, if vaginal bleeding is heavy and the amount is equal to or exceeds the menstrual volume, it may be physiological prenatal bleeding. Common causes include placenta previa and placental abruption.

The above are the three medical signals of threatened labor. Have you remembered them?

In addition, pregnant mothers must also be fully prepared, have confidence in themselves, ensure adequate sleep, and welcome the birth of the baby in the best condition!
