Is it normal to have less menstruation on the third day of menstruation?

A normal woman's menstruation usually lasts for 5 days. The amount of menstrual flow on the first and second days is relatively large, while the amount will decrease significantly on the third day, and will also become lower on the fourth and fifth days. However, some women feel a little strange because the amount of menstruation is very small on the first day, and the small amount on the third day. So, is it normal to have very little menstrual flow on the third day?

1. Is it normal to have less menstrual flow on the third day of menstruation?

1. The menstrual period lasts 4-5 days. Because the estrogen and oestrogen levels in the blood drop to the lowest level, and because the prostaglandins produced by the uterus interact with each other to cause spiral aortic contraction and thus disrupt the blood supply to the endometrium. This causes the endometrium and blood vessels to die and fall off, and the resulting bleeding can flush the dead endometrium into the uterus. On the other hand, the increase of prostaglandins can also cause the contraction of the uterine muscle layer, which is conducive to the discharge of blood and endometrium from the uterine body, but it can also cause menstrual pain that occurs with the menstrual period.

2. The reproductive period (also known as the follicular period in terms of changes in the uterus and ovaries) lasts about 10 days, which is around the 5th to 14th day of the menstrual cycle. During this period, as the eggs grow and develop, more and more estrogen is secreted, which causes the estrogen level in the blood to gradually rise, thereby repairing the uterine wall. As a result, the endometrium gradually grows and thickens, and the uterine gland ducts also grow.

3. The metabolic period is also called the follicular period in terms of the changes in the uterus and ovaries. It lasts about 14 days, that is, the 15th to 28th day of the menstrual cycle. This period is because at the end of the previous period, the perfect egg is converted into progesterone after ovulation, and the estrogen metabolized by progesterone acts on the uterine wall. Estrogen can cause blood vessel proliferation and hematoma in the thickened uterine wall, and dilate and bend the uterine gland ducts to secrete mucus. This transformation of the endometrium facilitates embryo implantation (pregnancy). If pregnancy does not occur during this menstrual cycle, the corpus luteum will shrink due to the inability to obtain the appropriate effect of the relevant growth hormone, thereby stopping the secretion of estrogen and hormones. When these two estrogens in the blood drop to extremely low levels, the hypertrophic uterine wall necrose, bleeds and falls off due to lack of support from hormones, and then the menstrual period begins.

The menstrual period usually lasts for three days and starts to decrease on the third day. If the menstrual flow is normal in the first two days, it is normal for the menstrual flow to decrease on the third day. Women do not need to worry too much.
