How many days can a woman live after ovulating?

Paying attention to ovulation is the first step to pregnancy, so it is important to understand how long the egg survives in the body. So how long does an egg cell survive in a woman’s body? How long can the egg survive after it is released? Let’s find out together.

For women, the possibility of pregnancy begins with the two ovaries, which are two small, oval organs attached to either side of the uterus that are filled with egg cells.

The egg cell survival time is 1-2 days, and its fertility ability is strongest within 24 hours after ovulation. Male sperm can survive for 2-3 days after entering the female reproductive system. Therefore, it is easiest to get pregnant during ovulation, and the chance of pregnancy decreases as the distance from ovulation increases.

In a normal marriage, one egg is matured and released from the left or right ovary every month. After the egg is released, it usually takes 8 to 10 minutes for the fimbria of the fallopian tubes to absorb it into the lumen of the fallopian tubes and reach the node between the ampulla and the isthmus of the fallopian tubes. The egg then stays here, waiting for the visit of sperm. Generally, fertilization occurs within 12 hours after ovulation, and it takes about 24 hours for all sperm and egg to combine.

Compared with male sperm, the lifespan of egg cells is much shorter, and the survival time of egg cells is 12 to 24 hours. If the egg cell that enters the fallopian tube meets the sperm within 24 hours, the sperm and egg can combine for fertilization. If the sperm and egg cell lose the opportunity to meet at this stage, the egg cell loses the ability to fertilize and dies. Therefore, pregnancy is possible only if you have sex within 1 to 2 days before and after ovulation during the middle and late menstrual period.

How long can the egg survive after it is released? Women ovulate regularly once a month. The time of ovulation (ovulation period) is generally 12 to 16 days before the next menstrual period. The egg cell usually only survives 12-30 hours after it is released.

The average survival time of the egg after being released is 12 to 30 hours, so if you want to have a baby, the egg must quickly combine with the sperm.
