When to do nt during pregnancy

For many families, pregnancy is regarded as a sacred and necessary thing to do, and many women also think that pregnancy and childbirth are what they must do. But despite this, do they really understand what pregnancy is? No, they don't know, they just think that having a baby is for the continuation of themselves and their lovers. In fact, there are many necessary preparations for pregnancy. Only by mastering it can it be more conducive to giving birth to a child, such as more prenatal examinations? Among them, how many weeks of pregnancy is the best time to do NT?

How many weeks of pregnancy is the best time to do nt

The NT test is best done between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy. Testing beyond 14 weeks will be inaccurate and is earlier than the time for Down syndrome. NT examination is mainly measured by B-ultrasound examination. If the final measurement value is less than 3mm, it is normal. If it exceeds 3mm, further examination should be considered, such as amniocentesis.

According to relevant data statistics, the diagnosis rate of Down syndrome can reach more than 85% through NT examination and then combined with blood test. In addition to pregnant women who explicitly express the desire to do amniocentesis, expectant mothers are advised to do maternal blood screening for Down syndrome and fetal nuchal translucency examination to ensure that they give birth to healthy babies.

The purpose of nuchal translucency examination is to diagnose chromosomal disorders and detect fetal abnormalities caused by various reasons in the early stages of pregnancy.

Because scientific research has found that during the 11th to 14th week of pregnancy, if the fetus has Down syndrome or has poor heart development, the nuchal translucency will become thicker. Thickening of the nuchal translucency is related to the fetal chromosome karyotype, congenital heart disease and other anatomical malformations. The thicker the nuchal translucency, the greater the chance of fetal abnormalities.

Generally speaking, it is better to choose a large hospital because it has advanced medical equipment and outstanding obstetricians. The price of normal delivery is relatively more expensive than that of ordinary clinics and small and medium-sized hospitals, but it will have more safety precautions. Therefore, obstetric experts recommend that mothers choose a reliable large comprehensive hospital for NT examination.
